  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My day to day role includes a lot of different aspects. The majority of my daily work involves liaising with clients regarding any tax questions that they have. In addition, I have monthly deadlines that I must comply with, hence I also spend a lot of time preparing information ready for this to remain compliant with the deadlines.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • During my time, I have been developing my excel skills on a continuous basis. The role requires me to deal with the large amounts of work we have by developing spreadsheets and in general streamline the processes we have in place. I have slowly learnt to build macros to integrate in these spreadsheets, something which I have not had experience of prior to this role.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am enjoying my programme very much as it has given me the chance to further develop myself as an employee. The lectures I attend offer us the chance to participate and really test ourselves which is a nice change from being spoonfed everything at school! This alongside the chance to study with those just as motivated as myself lead to a very enjoyable experience.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is very well organised. The team around me are very understanding with the study days as well as exam leave having once been through the same process as me before. The courses themselves are extremely well planned as they cater for not just people in the area, but also for people who may need to travel a long way to get to these venues as well.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support I have from my team is fantastic. Most of the members of the team around me have been through the same process as me before and therefore are extremely understanding of the pressures and time involved in studying. They try everything they can to ease the burden of studying and working at the same time.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • There is a lot of support from Tolleys. They have a few course dates, then many practice exams for us to have a look into. They also have an online portal where we are free to ask as many questions as we need to which are answered promptly by a Tolleys' representative.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are plenty of extra curricular activities for us to attend at work. Every year, there is a dragon boat race in Milton Keynes that we can attend as well as various charity walks and cycles that we have the chance to attend. Social events such as yearly quizzes and annual balls lead to this being a very enjoyable place to work in.
