  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • We have reactive and proactive work with out client where we help assist them with any problems they will have with the Bloomberg Terminal and also reach out to clients and pitch information or useful pages which they can benefit from our system. There is even opportunities to train clients and also partake in onsite client training.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Organisation and Discipline. This is a company for people who work hard. Everyone pulls their weight and makes it happen. I have learned to be disciplined in doing what is required of me no matter how I feel. I know my colleagues are working with me to find a solution for the clients so if I delay or I am not concise with it, it affects the business.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my experience, After a couple months it starts to become a family unit where everyone has your best interests at heart. Bloomberg has such a diverse range of people who are highly skilled and talented and being able to learn and grab that depth of knowledge has been amazing!

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • As Bloomberg has changed providers and the course is new and the course has not even finished its first cohort., it is a bit hard to judge but Bloomberg has tried to bend around and be supportive. Could have more improvements but it more from the course training provider side than Bloomberg.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • A Lot of support, a lot of helpful one to ones with my team leader. Amazing team meetings to see how we are doing and ways to develop in the company. They give us the time to do our work in a timely manner unless there is a business need. Very easy to access and approach our London manager when we need that extra support.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Honestly my main support is from my skills coach as I email him whenever I need help and I also communicate with my and peers whenever I need extra support. I do think that we could do with more support from the teachers outside the classes we attend which would be helpful.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • To be honest our qualification doesn't really match up with our day to day role. We focus more on assisting clients and reaching out when required. However, I do know that in the long run it would be beneficial as coding to get data and etc is something which will be more prevalent in the future so to be able to acquire this skill now is very useful.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes Plenty, There are opportunities to volunteer at various locations like soup kitchens, with children etc during work and if you volunteer for a certain amount of hours you will get a sum of money which you can donate to an Bloomberg approved charity. We have so many events that are based on understanding the Bloomberg software to networking/motivational events.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Bloomberg to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Its a great foot into a amazing career in technology. It helps you enhance your soft and hard skills and become very resilient. The learning opportunities in the company alone is of high quality and is embedded in the workflow so that we really have the knowledge to assist the clients.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Bloomberg?
  • Be nice to everyone this is something that Bloomberg prides in as we need to communicate with our employees who are based all around the world. Be honest and do not lie. They will find out. Really understand what Bloomberg does. Through that demonstrate how you can make an impact in the company.
