  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Work as part of an audit team and work on a range of different clients in the area around my office and occasionally further away from my office when we stay elsewhere for away jobs. I get to complete audit testing as the same as others in the team (although with help and the more simpler tasks). In addition, during my jobs I get to work with the client which has helped me build client relationships.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • As part of my training I have completed training in a classroom/ through studying and through work itself in the workplace. In terms of studying I have built on my exam skills that I used during my A Levels. Then, for the actual work skills I have a large amount of skills in terms of the specific work and also client skills as I deal with clients during my work.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • To a large extent I enjoy the programme. In my office we have a good group of people and a good social scene with social events getting organised monthly. I also enjoy having the opportunity to do most of my learning and developing my skills in a practical setting (whilst actually completing the work) rather than just having to do learning in a classroom/lecture.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Within my office and firm it is largely well organised. We have in company training which helps with the development of the actual work that I have to complete. Also, I have been assigned a buddy who is a level up from me who I can meet up with and discuss anything with. The one area that could be slightly more organised is surrounding the exams (resources for studying may arrive late and exam dates can sometimes change - this is due to the training provider rather than the firm).

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I do get a support from my employer surrounding my training, etc. They make sure to make sure I know that if I am struggling with anything I can talk to them and this is the case with everyone in the company (everyone is very supportive). I also have regular meetings with my line manager.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • On the whole they do provide support (if they supply the resources etc on time). In terms of the resources that are supplied there is a large selection of different things they provide us to use. They provide us with folders of the course content, a study manual and a question bank. They also have a good online bank which includes videos and further questions. The exams are mainly self study although there are some where you actually go in and have lessons with a lecturer.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • In a way it does as it gives you a more technical knowledge surrounding the job that you are doing. Although, there are a number of exams that do not have as much relevance to the work that you do day to day. In a way the training provided my employer has the most relevance to helping me perform better in my role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Within the office I am in we have a social and charity committee which you can join. These then organise events that occur throughout the year. The social committee tries to organise an even a month and these events can be thing such as bowling or mini golf. Our office also has a football team who meet up weekly to play and occasionally has matched against other firms.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Mazars LLP to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Mazars is a very friendly place to work out. It is very good size of company to work in as it is large enough to provide you with plenty of opportunities however your dealing with people remains friendly and personal. They also have a good selection of clients that you can get the opportunity to work on and they have a good support system (training days and initiatives) for trainees.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mazars LLP?
  • Have a good CV that helps you stand out and make sure you work hard to achieve good grades. Also, it is useful to have a little bit of knowledge on the service area you are applying to and in addition have an awareness about Mazars itself and what sort of firm Mazars is to make you seem interested about working at Mazars specifically.
