  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • From opening up the site. Making sure we have correct equipment to start the day. Advertising correct. Staff correct. Ensuring the kitchen are ready for a full day's work. Making sure all runs smoothly during the day and repairs reported then end of day checking that all is shut down and secured.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I feel I have learnt alot in the way I see the staff and that everyone have differ ent ways in learning. I do tend to struggle with remembering some things but I feel I am starting to get some where. My tutor understands how I learn. Understand a lot more in the way the business has to go forward.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Sometimes I enjoy the programme but sometimes I feel I can't do this. I have a type of dislexia and I struggle with the way things are written and put in sentences. I feel alot better in doing rather than writing as I understand it alot more. I need to build my confidence up a little also but my tutor had been helping with it.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel it could be a little bit more structure for people like me. I feel alot more confident talking to someone face to face instead of over phone or Skype. It helps me understand alot easier and stays in my mind more. Content is good and reviews alot of what we need.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • At the moment we have been going through some changes as I swapped site and then we have had a covering manager for another 4 weeks after that I don't know. But support has been OK. Not brilliant the covering manager has help alot more than previous. But other staff have been supportive.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My tutor I had alot of support and just got confortable with her just to find out she's leaving and I am going to be getting someone new. Which means I've got to try and sort out how I will work with her. If she will understand how I work.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I would say some does but some of the work is for any business which is good as you may not stay in the hospitality industry for ever but its been getting very interesting and has shown me some things I didn't realise or know before. I do find it's helped with my trainer.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • The only teams we have at work is a pool team we do have quiz nights twice a week but any other social activities we don't actually have. We do have the odd extra social event at work but 90% of the time I'm working them and it. So can't really socialise.
