  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • The first 2 weeks we did classes on various skills for the work place (personal branding, emails, finance). All of these classes had exercises, we then would write about them to qualify for the CMI team leading award (level 2). On the last week were did work experience where we were placed into an area of our choice and had a mentor to guide us and give us projects and tasks to complete. After the 3 main weeks we can choose to accept the mentor programme in which we visits out mentor each month for 10 months. They help with what ever endeavour you are aiming for within that period of time. For example, my mentor helped me write my CV and personal statement for university and jobs.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes. I have lots more confidence when doing public speaking or doing presentations. I also have developed writing skills as during my work experience week I was tasked to do a few articles and blogs for EY. I also developed my video making skills the same way as I was tasked to make a video for the last day.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoyed my programme. The other interns ( 11 of us in total ) were mostly nice. The only thing that I didnt enjoy was one girl making some snide comments about trans and LGBT people. Apart from that I really grewas a person over the 3 weeks, not only in confidence but I feel a lot more happier as a person.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme was very well structured; the various talks and trips were both educational and fun. It was hard work however we were supported throughout. The opptional mentor programme, which lasts for 10 months, really helped me get a job and get into university. The structure continued to support me.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I received quite a lot of support. When dealing with a girl on my internship who was rather nasty, the employer was quick to act and talked to them immediately to sort the issue. I also received support as I suffer from very bad anxiety and OCD, my employer making arrangements so that I could be comfortable and know that I could leave to calm down whenever i wanted.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We received a lot of support towards the CMI qualification. We were tasked to complete a learning log which we completed tasks and exercises before hand to write about inside. Our mentors and employers would check it every day so that what we were writing would get us the qualification. If we were stuck they would also help us.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification helped me get my present job as a restaurant server and prep. Chef. As I work on a team for my whole shift at work it is key that I get order back quickly so my team can begin cooking so that our wait time isnt too long.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes. During the internship we were there for EY day. An extracullicular day in which we all wore yellow and grey ( the colours of EY ) and partook in various games and contests for prizes. We also now get invited to various events EY holds throughout the year; Christmas events, prize giving, women networking events.

  • 9a. Would you recommend EY to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend EY to a friend as it was a pretty life changing experience for me. Even after the first week at EY I noticed how confident I had become, even only after 1 week. I grew so much from the shy person i was before, not only in confidence but I have developed so many good skills that will help me in the future.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • Be yourself as EY want people who are honest and hard working. I'd also make sure to wow the interviewer, give them good examples of your skills and also make sure you have a goal in mind, what do you want our of the internship programme and what do you want to achieve whilst there?
