Intern Review

The first 2 weeks consisted of learning the leadership skills needed to work in a corporate environment. We were given coursework and many useful sessions to help us pass our Level 2 CMI qualification in team leading. The third week consisted of us splitting off and working in the different sectors EY has.

Through all the sessions and workshops provided for us, ive learnt more about the importance of communication, listening skills and team work in leadership. The team have also provided us with interview experiences in the corporate world, as well as giving many presentations to peers, staff etc, which has developed many useful skills

I really enjoy my 3 week work experience at EY. I’ve learned a lot of new and useful skill, as well as developed the ones I was not so confident about. The staff were incredibly kind, funny, understanding and gave great advice for my education, and life in general.

My work experience was incredibly organised with a set time to begin our sessions or workshop, to having our lunch served on time (and presented well) and finishing off the day at around 4:30. If there was a change of plan e.g being in the London Bridge office instead of Canary Wharf, we would all be informed with an email the day before.

I got the chance to talk to a numerous amount of employees, learning about their educational background and how they found life at EY. I was able to gain valuable information e.g the EY graduate scheme. From talking to employees, I’ve learned that everyone loves the sense of community EY staff provide.

Already having a strong idea of working in the city post-graduate, this experience has confirmed my career path and has shown me many options I can take for example the apprenticeship scheme or the graduate scheme. Being in a corporate environment in Canary Wharf has brought my career idea to life.

We were paid for the work experience we completed for the three weeks in EY. It was a monthly salary of around £700. We were also reimburst for the fact that we were taxed. Our money was transfer to our account, as promised by the end of the working month

They were numerous times to network and meet other employees. Speakers were brought in to give us workshops. We also had the chance to go to the law firm, McKinsey & company where we spoke to employees, learning how the working life was, and took note of their emails for the future.

EY has displayed a great, diverse, and interesting sense of community, and this opinion is shared by so many who love and enjoy their job here. The work expert I’ve provided you with the necessary life skills, that are always useful and tasks giving are really fun e.g pretend meetings with clients or having a dragons den pitch.

I would 100% recommend this work experience. It is located in an amazing place, the staff are incredibly friendly, you learn a lot more than you’d expected, and you get paid! It’s the perfect opportunity to make new friends, network with employees, and decide on your career path.
