To carry out the tasks of a trainee, such as research, typing or proof-reading documents and filing. I also attended a series of seminars on aspects of the work of a commercial law firm, and on the education paths that can lead to work in such a firm.
I learnt the importance of attention to detail when proof-reading documents and carrying out research. The tasks I was given allowed me to develop these skills.
I enjoyed my placement hugely. All the lawyers in the office, from trainees to partners, made me feel very welcome and valued. They were happy to take time to impart information and advice which I found extremely beneficial. The seminars and business exercise were very informative and enjoyable.
I was given useful tasks to complete, and was shown how my work formed part of the service provided by Pinsent Masons for clients. I was given advice and criticism in the same way that an employee of the firm would be. As such I was made to feel valued to a great extent.
The programme was extremely well organised. Each date was fully timetabled, and each trainee had work ready to give to me and the other work experience students.
I was given a comprehensive introduction to the firm and its health and safety policy. I was given a full tour of the building and IT training.
Each trainee gave any support needed, and were happy to answer questions about the tasks I was completing.
I was asked on my first day if I would like to join the Restructuring Department cricket team in a match against another firm. This was a great opportunity to get to know the other work experience students and lawyers of all levels in Pinsent Masons in an informal setting.
Yes
The work experience programme was a brilliant introduction into work in a commercial law firm.
