  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a customer facing role, so I serve drinks and food as well as taking orders, dealing with customer feedback, and general care taking of your customers. I also must look after the bar and restaurant area by making sure it is fully stocked and everything that will be needed during serviced is readily available.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very organised, with every learner meeting there was a chart setting out what tasks to be accomplished by when, the worksheets on the website were detailed and appropriately labelled as well as easy to find, and there also wasn’t too much pressure to do tasks in a set order, you have the freedom the do it in an order comfortable for you.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We as a pub organise weekly events for public like networking and social activities, but as team members we don’t tend to participate unless we have the evening off, we may occasionally assist in hosting an event. We are raising money for Macmillan and doing a 5 a side football game for the staff solely.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Greene King to a friend?
  • No

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because the wage it pays its staff is minimum, no matter how hard you work or how long you’ve worked there, the budgets for consumables like cleaning products, crockery and glasses is so minimal orders regularly get cancelled or cut shorter leaving us without the equipment and facilities needed to provide an excellent service to our customers

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Greene King?
  • I would advice them to set boundaries for their maximum working hours and weekend hours, save money before joint greene king as the wage is 4 weekly so paying direct debits is very difficult and if you the cut off date, you have to wait ages to get paid your wage.
