  • 1. Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:
  • This work experience involved lots of group activities and interacting with the employees at EY. One of the group activities included creating a mobile phone from the future which we had to do a presentation on infront of many EY employees including a partner. We were given many presentations on how to enhance our employability skills.

  • 2. What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?
  • From this work experience many of my skills got developed such as communication and team working skills. We had to take part in many group activities which involved talking to new people and getting to know everyone’s strengths and weaknesses. My presentation skills also improved as we had to create many presentations.

  • 3. To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?
  • I really enjoyed my work experience at EY as I met a lot of people my age and made a lot of friends. There was a range of activities to do in one day and the work experience never seemed like a drag. I interacted with a lot of employees.

  • This work experience at EY was very well organised and structured as the entire day was planned with many activities to do. There was never a time where I was bored and each activity was different and enjoyable. Each day consisted of different activities, some even consisted of trips to places like the telegraph.

  • 5. How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
  • From this work experience I learnt a lot about the company, EY. I learnt about all the different types of job roles and what each one consisted of. I learnt about the banking sector and what type of clients EY gets and how they became such a big and successful company.

  • 6. How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
  • Working at EY helped me make the choice that I do want to work in the banking sector, however it also made me realise I want to work in other sectors such as technology as I don’t want my entire career to be in the banking and finance sector.

  • For this work experience at EY I was paid £6.85 per hour and this work experience lasted 3 weeks. This included a day off. The pay is way higher than the minimum wage and we were all under 18. The pay was a bonus for working at this amazing company.

  • 8. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
  • Working at EY there were many opportunities to network and meet other employees. We were given a presentation every day by different people who would stay for lunch which gave us the opportunity to interact with them then. We were also given a “buddy” who is an EY employee who would help us with thing such as our personal statements or career routes.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Working at EY was a very insightful experience. I met a lot of people my age and made many friends. I also networked with a lot of EY’s employees who helped me a lot with my career choices. Each day was filled with many activities and a lot of my skills were developed.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • When applying for the work experience at EY make sure to research the company before your interview. Search up what they do and what their values are and also make sure to have a few questions to ask at the end of the interview. During the interview always give examples where you have had to work in groups and there was a lot of leadership and problem solving involved.
