  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My job role involves handling the Client Money segregation as set out by the FCA regulations. This involves reaching out to many different Lines of Business to collate their requirements. This ensures that Client Money and Assets would be untouched in an insolvency.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think the programme is perfectly structured. I feel we really benefit from the study day with our training provider as it really helps us to organise our time more efficiently. Each individual organises their own meetings with their managers, so there isn't a forced feel to the feedback you receive.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Our training provider, BPP, are excellent in my eyes. They operate in so many different ways from our online lectures where the lecturers are always insightful and ready to answer any questions to in-person visits closer to exam times which allow us to prepare effectively for our tests. The email helpline is a massive help too as it means you are not waiting until the next session to answer any questions you may come across whilst reading over notes.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My team have consistently delivered very high levels of support to me from the day I first moved here which really helped me to settle in and this hasn't changed nearly a year later. We have a wide network for support including the heads of our apprenticeship who are always more than happy to help.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Our salary is one of the highest in the country for an apprenticeship however I feel this is justified due to living costs in and and around the area. With the surrounding areas being a holiday hotspot, rent is quite high which has caused a few issues for me after having to relocate.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are countless opportunities outside of work to suit almost any interest. The firm really take a key interest in work-life balance so they have ensured that there are many different outlets for employees to choose from. Personally, I play for the football team and it's also been a great way to network; a key component of working in the firm.

  • 9. Would you recommend J.P. Morgan to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • There are countless opportunities within the firm so it is obvious to believe that most people could find a good career for themselves. The firm really seems to believe in it's employees and the path to progression is clearly there with hard work.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to J.P. Morgan?
  • It always helps to have done some research on the bank, and not just history etc, look at recent trades that they have facilitated. It may also help to have a rough idea of the career path you'd like in your head. When it comes to the interview stages the most important factor is to show off your unique attributes, which everybody has, whilst mantaining your professionalism.
