  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis I am still not doing any actual work. I am currently still waiting for clearance so I am left to do my own training or university work to fill the day. I have been developing my technical skills in SQL and Linux/Unix as this is what I will use in my role.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Whilst being at Accenture so far, I have developed some new basic skills in programming which I previously had no prior knowledge of. However, much of these skills have been built from my own independent training as I havent had that much oppoortuinity to gain hands-on work experience and complete work myself.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoy parts of the programme as it has been a great way to meet new people and grow my confidence and basic networking skills. I have also had times where I haven't enjoyed the programme because the lack of roles for apprentices left us stuck doing little work everyday which was very demotivating.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think that the apprentice programme could be more organised. Once bootcamp was over majority of us were just left without a role and to just upskill ourselves on the bench. Over time, this can become very tideous and demotivating. I am now quite fair into my first year of the apprenticeship and I still have not began proper work. I think Accenture needs to focus more on giving apprenticeships opportunitys/roles straight away like it is promised.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • When first starting, there was lots of support and you are given your own career counsellor to go to for any support you may need. There is lots of people who make themselves available for you to go to if you need anything and there is a lot of schemes like Drop-ins.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Our training provider has been quitesupportive in helping us with our quailifications. The work load is always well balanced with the amount of time we are given to complete it and our tutor is always willing to help us with any issues we have and need guidance with. It is has been good.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The quailification through our training provider is usful for building our basic and general technical skills even if it isn't completely specific to our job roles. To gain practical skills in programming as well as the thoery behind it makes it easier to understand our daily tasks in our roles.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, there is a lot of extra curricular activities to get involved with at Accenture. There has been multiple TAG events whilst I have been employed here. These are great opportunities for us to network with other members of the company and get our names out there for future roles in our career.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
  • No

  • 9b. Why?
  • Although it is a great way to gain a free degree whilst being paid, I feel like I have not gained enough work experience from the time I have been here for. I think there has not been enough roles available for apprentices and therefore we havent been able to gain hands-on experience which we are promised.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
  • If you are applying for Accenture, do not worry if you have no technical experience or not because it does not make a difference. In the recruitment process make sure to stand out in group activities and be confident. They are not just focused on your skill set alone, they want to see personaility and willingness to learn.
