  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis I support and help the relationship manager and the assistant relationship managers on their jobs and tasks. For the manager I do things such as prepare meeting packs and maintaining customer interaction and support along with other things. And helping the assistants in their day to day roles like customer queries etc.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • New skills I have learnt while being at RBS is I have experienced working life as I came straight out college meaning this 9-5 life is different and I had to adjust to it. I have also enhanced on my people skills as I currently work with people a lot older than me, whereas at school and college you work with people of your age.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme as it is new for me and I have learnt so much while being in this role. The issues I do have is that the study section wasn't well explained and wasn't clear from the get go. This is a problem as it has taken me longer to figure out what is going on and it took a while to get the study book which was poor

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The work side of the apprenticeship is brilliant and I love that bit of my apprenticeship. But the issue is around the study and how it could be improved as it is disorganised and unclear. I would change the webinars to more webinars for shorter times as it is impossible to listen to someone for almost 3 hours, I think they should be an hour and a half and be more of them.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is brilliant and is very supportive as well as the people I work around. I feel as though my employer is supporting me and wanting me to succeed as well as encouraging me and checking up on how I am doing and asking if he can do anything to help and push me.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The support is good as there is a monthly call, which is useful, but that's new and would of been helpful if it was done a little earlier as there could be been a call about what is expected of you to do before the study started and what to expect.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The exam I am studying for is professional bankers certificate and is mainly about the laws and regulations surrounding the industry, but the taskbooks are more catered for my job role and day to day activity. The webinars would be useful and more effective if there was more of them which wasn't as long. As 3 hours is a long time.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We do a quarterly quiz night for emplyees and customers locally which this one coming up I helped set up and I helped working towards. We aren't that encouraged to set up a team etc. but that would be a cool idea, as it can build on team work.

  • 9a. Would you recommend NatWest to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because there are lots of opportunities and chances to develop and grow. As well RBS offers a lot of services which will help you later in life such as the pension scheme you are automatically enrolled onto. The people who work in the company are all friendly and you are welcomed in all offices.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest?
  • Ask questions early about the study side as I was advised late and considering we started in October and the study started in January it was poor. Also ask questions in the office and be hungry in the office for work and advice as everyone wants to help as the more you can do the more youll help the people around you.
