  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is in pay monthly. on a day to day basis this includes creating price tiles, managing funding, creating supercharged and winning the weekend, filling in and distributing the daily reports, making sure the customer returning base tariffs are correct and ensuring that the online execution is correctly done

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • There are a plethora of new skills I have learnt and developed existing ones. the main one is time management and prioritisation, as this is something which is paramount in any organisation. I am responsible for my projects and must complete them as other people rely on me getting it done

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme a lot so far. I am working in a department that I am very interested in. moreover, my work is quite varied and feels like what I'm doing is important, thus, I like what I do even more, as I'm feeling like I contribute to the wider goals of my team

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programmes structure could be better. I believe this is because this is the first time an apprenticeship programme has been run through my company and therefore, certain kinks have materialised. However, the overall structure of the lessons and exams are quite well executed and much appreciated by myself and the others

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Personally, I dont receive much support, however, this is by my own desire. I dont feel as though I need much support, preferring to work and figure things out by myself. If I needed the support, I do feel as though it would be provided for me, as it has been quite well in the past

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I havent been in the programme for very long, but the support I receive personally is somewhat lacking. Generally, the teaching is of good standard, but I feel if I had any personal issues with the subject matter, there wouldnt be any specified aid from the provider of my apprenticeship

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think that the qualification itself doesnt directly influence my day to day activities at work. This is because my current department doesnt deal with what I'm learning in class; this will change when I rotate to a different department. The skills I've learnt from it though, have been transferable and proved very useful

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many extra curricular activities to get involved in at work. I was invited to a football team in my first week and there are regular social events. moreover, I've seen advertised lots of different clubs and activities that integrate a wide range of hobbies available at the company

  • 9a. Would you recommend Dixons Carphone to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Dixons Carphone deals with technology, and this is very relevant in society today. Therefore, even if it is not something you're necessarily interested in, you can learn a lot about the industry by working for the company. moreover, there are lots of different roles and departments available that offer different experiences

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Dixons Carphone?
  • Dixons Carphone doesnt hold your hand. if this is something you want from a company, dont apply here. I dont mean this negatively; dixons carphone teaches you to stand on your own two feet which, for a lot of people is necessary after leaving education. its great though, big fan
