  • Looking after a portfolio of commercial customers. Ensure business reviews and financial health checks are completed for the business. Make sure all funding and correct measures are put into place for the growth of the business. Undertake service calls and contact to customers ensuring everything is up to date and running smoothly

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Learnt how to multitask as there are new activities that take place everyday. Undertake training skills to helps with soft skills development. Also learnt time management skills and how to work under pressure. Also developed my skills with customer services and communicating with customers with regards to different products on a daily basis.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I work in commercial banking and work within the Relationship Management team. I work within the retail and wholesale sector which is a sector that has a lot of opportunity. It is challenging but enjoyable as we meet different customers within the sector and a great opportunity to learn more about their business.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very well structured as I have a mentor and my training provider is BPP. I have my line manager dialling into all calls and have reviews monthly. Also have booklets and task books in pace where I complete different tasks as well as my day to day role.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • A great amount of support is received from my employer as there is a set structure in place to help me during my apprenticeship. I also have other colleagues who were previous apprentices helping me throughout my journey and the next steps after the apprenticeship. I have allocated time to complete the required work.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a great amount of support from my training provider when working towards my apprenticeship. I am completing a level 3 financial services apprenticeship and each month I have calls to see what I have completed, where I am within the task books as well as actions for the next review.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification of financial services definitely helps me perform better in my role as I have to complete tasks on certain activities that I complete, certain projects that I lead. The booklets are useful and are tasks that I complete within my day to day role which is provided by BPP.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many extra curricular activities to get involved in within my place of work. there are many society groups; I have joined the multi-cultural society group. I am also on the people forum group for my team and there are also sports where are staff are welcome to join.

  • 9a. Would you recommend NatWest to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would definitely recommend RBS to a friend as there is a clear structure put into place and lots of training and qualifications are always provided. The team here are excellent with experienced line managers present. There are many different career paths within the Bank and lots of support systems in place.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest?
  • Present all the extra work you do outside of work. It is not always down to the academics and explaining all your extra curricular is key. Be open and honest when applying as the team and the ethos here is great and supportive. When applying, have questions in mind that you would like answers to.
