  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis, I will be given jobs by different engineers or managers in which I will complete. some of these jobs may take a couple of days to complete. however if nobody has any jobs for me to undertake I will tidy the workshops up, empty the bins and complete any college work I may have.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned a lot of new skills and developed existing skills as I have been at the training centre for the best part of last year in which I have done 4 days on practical learning and 1 day on the Btec side of my apprenticeship. I have also learned a lot of new skills at work as all of the engineers and managers are available to help you out with any problems you have.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the program as I have learned a lot whiles being at the training centre and work I have also made new friends and colleagues, as well as this I have also gained a lot of new skills which will help me through out the rest of my program and in future jobs.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • my program is very structured as I always know what I am suppose to be doing and where I am suppose to be weather I should be at the training centre or at work. I also am informed well in advance of any team building activity's I will need to attend as they are not normally local.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer as they always ask about any problems we may have and if there is anything we may need, in order to fulfil our jobs. we regularly have meeting and discussions about our progress at the training centre and how we can improve.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I regularly receive a lot of support when needed from my training provider which is North West Training council, we regularly have meeting and discussions about my progress and how I can improve and better my self at the training centre and at work. the training centre are always available to discus problems I may have.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • the work I do at the training centre is very good for me to improve at work as the course if specifically for my job role, Food and Drink maintenance engineer, the practically work at college helps me to fulfil tasks I am given and the Btec work at the training centre helps me to understand how everything works.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • To my knowledge there is no extra-curricular activities to get involves in at work. however every year there is a Christmas party in which all the employees from site are invited along to, I feel this is a good way to need new people from work who you may have never spoke to.

  • Yes

  • I would happily recommend Bakkavor to a friend as I feel it is an amazing company with a lot of benefits and a lot of learning opportunity's. I also feel Bakkavor is friendly company as they are always willing to help and listen to any problems the staff may have.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Bakkavor?
  • to anyone applying at Bakkavor I would say, do some research about the company and learn about how the company works and operates and learn what your job will involve and research things to better yourself,if you was to get the job. I would also learn and understand the company values and aims.
