  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is working with the technical department, This involves writing and checking food specifications for shops such as Tesco, asda, waitrose, aldi etc. I write and amend previous specifications. I also check packaging before it goes into the factory as if it is wrong it can put our company at risk,

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is well organised however at work I do sometimes run out of work to do so have to ask for more instead of automatically doing it. My training provider is very well organised I know all the dates im at college in the next two years and so much more.

  • My employer is lovely and they support me whenever I need it. At first I was hestitant asking questions however now I am very comfortable asking questions as the more you ask the more you learn. • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • In my opinion I do not receive much, my training provider is very knowledgable and smart however they don't really explain they just expect me to know it. When I complete assignments I get them back with comments on how to improve this helps a lot. I wish they helped more.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I learn bits from my training provider but I am learning a lot more now at work. I feel at the minute I am doing poorly as my training provider doesn't help me much in my opinion. My employer helps me a lot more with my qualification then my training provider does. However I have only had college one week so far in my apprenticeship so my opinion may change,

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes our SEF rep makes extra curricular activites. For example at the moment there is yoga we can attend after work inside one of our rooms, there is also an organised fun run we have an option to attend to. I know my business does sport team events etc however the specific department I am in does not do this.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Bakkavor to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend bakkavor because you are learning a large amount of money for learning lots, bakkavor has made my life so much more enjoyable and I enjoy coming into work everyday (unlike school) Everyone at bakkavor is welcoming and lovely to talk to. I think the best place for an apprenticeship is bakkavor.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Bakkavor?
  • I would give them tips that in there interview don't be nervous I was incredibly nervous however now working here over 6 months I am confident. Everyone at bakkavor Is lovely and no one expects anyone to know everything so if anyone has any questions definetly ask them. Also don't worry if people seem more experienced then you they are bound to. Some people I work here has been there 6 years so they are obviously going to learn more. You are doing an apprenticeship to learn on the job. Mistakes happen do not panic
