  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I book in patients. referring patients to other hospitals. The main thing I have been doing is folding letters and scanning letters for the other workers. That is something I wasn't told about, which hit me by surprise, that's mainly what I have been told to do for now.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • At the moment the only new skill I have learnt is, how to fold paper. I won't really say that's a skill but its the main job I had been given since I had started the role. Which to me is quite strange, as I did not apply to that kind of role.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the part where I am temporally moved to another department, to cover for a worker who will be on annual leave in June. In that role I am utilizing the thins I had been taught, in the first week of this role. But I'm not sure how long that will last.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Honestly I don't think it is well organised, I am being put in different offices regularly. There are times where I am told to sort out everyone's post, which was not in the job description. The workers here are bad at prioritizing and are always stressing out about their work load.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • At the moment I don't receive much support, mainly because I don't need help with folding papers. That will need to be changed asap if I wish to carry on working in this role. I will be talking to my apprenticeship training provider about this as well, as it needs to be addressed.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have only had one encounter with my training provider, but he is quit helpful. When ever I had any questions I would email him and he would be quick to reply. I will know more about my qualification on is next return, for now I will have to wait.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The reason my qualification doesn't help is because, I am mainly folding letters, and picking other peoples mess. I may know more about my role in later weeks, and see how the qualification helps, I have been going over the slides. I am very intrigued by them and will continue to read on.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There is a sports team that I have joined. They call it the GOSH football team, not the best team in the world but I will start to go to football practice and games at the trust int he coming months. I am an athletic individual and was exited when i heard this.

  • 9a. Would you recommend NHS to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • There are many benefits in working in the NHS, the people in the departments are really nice and helpful. However I won't recommend him to my department due to the lack of prioritizing, as it becomes a real headache when these women dump their work on you. Other then that its a great place.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
  • I would make sure to tell them, they do good research before apply to their role. to ask many questions during the interview so they know what they are getting into, as I don't want them to be in a position where they get stuck and can't go anywhere else.
