Finance Analyst Review

JLR offers a wide range of roles you can end up in, currently I am in a financial accountancy role working on budget inputs and forecasting future spend. The role is heavily month end focused, so the majority of your work is done within 1 week making it very busy.

In my previous role I developed communication skills, and learnt how to portray a tricky view point in a professional manner and worked towards getting a pain free solution. In my current role I have worked on processing skills learning how to do a lot of work in a fairly short amount of time and learning how to be efficient while working.

I have really loved the programme, it was a perfect pathway for me as I had just had enough of full time education and wanted to gain some more freedom. Being trusted to work independently is a big change coming from a school environment and being treated as an adult was a needed refresh.

The programme is well structured, you know you will get CIMA and a Degree. You know the days you will be going to college, and what you will be doing. However the organisation isn't great and you feel yourself finding information out a little later than you wanted, making everything a little last minute.

The support is amazing, you can receive as much support as you feel you need. This means if you are struggling with something, there is always someone who is happy to help out, but if you feel you are excelling you can be left alone to work independently. Support is also offered in none working areas of life and people are more than happy to help with your studies.

The support from BPP is great, you get between 28 and 42 contact hours per module. On top of this the teachers are extremely good at responding to emails so questions can be asked out side of "CIMA Days". Not to mention you are regularly contacted by BPP to confirm you are still okay and if there are any ways they can help you.

The qualification is very role focused with you working towards becoming an accountant both in and outside of college. Everything you do at work you will study through CIMA, meaning your understanding of your day job is massively improved via the qualification. The professional level of CIMA also gives you an insight into other functions within the business allowing you to understand better how finance sits within the whole company.

Social activities depends on the team you are working for, With my old team I play football once a month and used to play badminton every week. There are plenty of opportunities to do things outside of work with your teams, or finance as a whole. And there is an apprentice graduate forum that regularly arranges social events.

It is an amazing employer and you can see your self remaining to work here long after the apprenticeship finishes. Due to the type of person employed as a manager here, you always have an extremely knowledgeable person in your team who is happy to help. Finally the company ethos makes everyone feel welcome and there is a lot of focus on improvement.

Think about what makes you stand out from anyone else applying for the scheme, what have you done that no one else has. Try do some online practice of psychometric tests and situational judgement tests before you apply, and finally just be yourself! JLR is very invested in people so try be unique!
