  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • As an internal candidate from ENGIE, I possessed a good understanding of work carried out. The Graduate scheme has given me the opportunity to learn new skills I wouldn't have had access to in the past through exposure to different aspects of the business. I am currently working towards a CMI L3 qualification which has given me managerial tools to apply in my day to day role. Alongside the CMI qualification, ENGIE supplement this with in house detailed training on leadership skills. This has further enhanced my competency in my current job role and has transferable aspects which I apply in my personal life.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy working for ENGIE. Within the Graduate Scheme it is structured in a manner which requires changing placements every 6 months for 2 years. In my 2 placements so far I have been impressed with the welcoming nature of both teams, making me feel like a valued member. This is something which, in my opinion, runs through the company. The many employees I have engaged with all have good things to say about ENGIE, which I can relate to within my own personal experiences.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The support I have received in the past and ongoing has been great. Our induction week consisted of a whistlestop tour of ENGIE sites within London. It was a good opportunity to understand the scope of the services they currently provide. Training as mentioned in the previous question is frequent, relevant and delivered in a professional manner which lends itself well to a learning culture. This is something which runs throughout the Graduate scheme. Support is readily available both internally through our Talent Manager, Scheme Sponsors, Senior Managers within the business and externally via QA Skills Coaches and QA Talent Partner for training and progress.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • ENGIe have been fanstatic so far, at a higher level the Talent Manager schedules monthly catch ups to ensure we are getting value from the work and if there are any issues within work or general personal issues. At a more local level, my Line Manager and I have weekly 1-1 meetings reviewing the week and checking progress against targets. This helps to refocus and develop responsibilities to incorporate scheme requirements. Always ensures I attend training courses and have enough time to complete required coursework through the week via the 20% Off the Job Leanring.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • QA have been brilliant in their support so far. From the intial induction of the course requirements to the ongoing support given by the Skills Coaches who are always avaliable for chats and advice. 6 Weekly meetings are planned to ensure we are on target with assignment deadline and if there is any assistance required. They play an active role in delivering toolbox talks around 'hot topics' which help raise awareness about issues which could potentially impact out progress.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that the content is easily transferable from the workshops and assignments into the day to day working role. The training delivered is thought provoking and goes into detail about concepts and implementation of various tools which in turn help me perform better in my role. The Graduate Scheme is based around leadership and I feel the content within the CMI qualification is the best possible route to take in order to gain competency and experience within the industry.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there are ample opportunities to attend extra curricular events. ENGIE are good at promoting events within the business and engage all lines of business to ensure a fair approach to employee awareness. At my current placement there is a 'Running Club' which we frequently get a change to exercise together whilst exploring the local area. When I am not working I enjoy working out at the gym and socialising with friends. I feel I have a good work/life balance which is key in any working environment.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Equans to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • ENGIE are making inroads into the workplace through expansion of their current services to provide a competitive offer across a number of industries. They value employees and really make the effort when it comes to training and progression. I feel like I have a voice within the company to affect change.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Equans?
  • The application process was thorough which incorporated an assessment center comprising of 3 activities (Pre work, Group Exercise and Role Play), I would say on this front do your research and ensure you are as prepared as possible! On boarding was straight forward once all documents were submitted. The experience so far has been brilliant, the communication lines from assessment center to Day 1 was clear and concise which negated the need for anything else to be added.
