  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work at Pilot operations as a second year apprentice. Here, we validate the build process for the track. So, on a day to day basis I build cars following the process so that we can identify any quality issues with the process or the parts being used to build.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Working here, I have definitely developed my people skills and my confidence as I can now speak to people and do presentations without feeling uneasy. I've learnt how to use many more tools than I would've before and now I know more about cars I can care for and fix my own.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I definitely enjoy the programme that I am on a lot. This is because I get a lot of freedom in my role and I am trusted with a lot. I also enjoy being able to work on a zone whilst also doing activities like TIC to develop more of my skills.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Due to the college, sometimes the organisation of the course can be bad. This is often down to the holidays and timetables not being 100%. However, it can also be down to the college staff too as many of the college staff struggle to cater to each and everyone of the students capability's.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer. This is because I know I can go to my supervisors, my WBLM or anybody else in the business if I need help with anything. If I am struggling with workload and college load I can always ask for my time for my college work and there isn't a problem.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I do receive support from my training provider for my qualifications. However, some of the teachers supporting us as students aren't the best and sometimes hinder our learning and our ability to complete assignments on time and also containing the correct information. But, our WBLM's who are part of the college are often good at supporting us.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that my qualification through the training provider helps me to perform better at work because it gives me background knowledge to what I am working with. This helps because I can still do my work with my background knowledge and then as I do more at work I build my background knowledge.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are other activities that you can get involved with outside of work. Such as joining the cycling team, or getting involved in the yearly golf tournament. The company will also give you £200 to do an activity/course of your choice so that you can learn some new things.

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
