I work at Pilot operations as a second year apprentice. Here, we validate the build process for the track. So, on a day to day basis I build cars following the process so that we can identify any quality issues with the process or the parts being used to build.
Working here, I have definitely developed my people skills and my confidence as I can now speak to people and do presentations without feeling uneasy. I've learnt how to use many more tools than I would've before and now I know more about cars I can care for and fix my own.
I definitely enjoy the programme that I am on a lot. This is because I get a lot of freedom in my role and I am trusted with a lot. I also enjoy being able to work on a zone whilst also doing activities like TIC to develop more of my skills.
Due to the college, sometimes the organisation of the course can be bad. This is often down to the holidays and timetables not being 100%. However, it can also be down to the college staff too as many of the college staff struggle to cater to each and everyone of the students capability's.
I receive a lot of support from my employer. This is because I know I can go to my supervisors, my WBLM or anybody else in the business if I need help with anything. If I am struggling with workload and college load I can always ask for my time for my college work and there isn't a problem.
I do receive support from my training provider for my qualifications. However, some of the teachers supporting us as students aren't the best and sometimes hinder our learning and our ability to complete assignments on time and also containing the correct information. But, our WBLM's who are part of the college are often good at supporting us.
I feel that my qualification through the training provider helps me to perform better at work because it gives me background knowledge to what I am working with. This helps because I can still do my work with my background knowledge and then as I do more at work I build my background knowledge.
There are other activities that you can get involved with outside of work. Such as joining the cycling team, or getting involved in the yearly golf tournament. The company will also give you £200 to do an activity/course of your choice so that you can learn some new things.

I would recommend Jaguar Land Rover to a friend because it is a good company that cares about its employees. As an apprentice, I can honestly say I haven't thought of any other company to be part of that will care for me and my health and wellbeing more.
For others applying to Jaguar land rover, I would say to not worry about the state of the company and to follow what you want to do because it is a really good company and a good opportunity to work for that people that pay well enough and looks after their employee very vell.
