  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • The role involves using a variety of analytics tools to gather insights and stories from the data available, making this presentable and then presenting it to a variety of stakeholders. It involves meeting criteria set by the training provider such as using databases, unstructured and structured data, using SQL, R and more.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • At the start of my apprenticeship I didn't know any analytics but now I can preform my job independently. I have learnt a variety of coding, tools and even just general analytics knowledge that I need to understand and work with those around me and pick up on new skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really do enjoy the program, this is because while it is strict enough to make sure I learn the stuff I need, it gives me the freedom to explore the aspects of analysis that interest me personally. I enjoy that the structure gives me a lot of room overall.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It had a clear layout from the beginning, all the documentation I could ask for and more. Monthly check-ins could be better but as for the layout of study weeks, assessments and checkpoints I really could not fault the documented approach that has been taken. Its simply just perfect for me.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is there every step of the way. Anything I need for my apprenticeship is accommodated even if it takes a little bit of time. They understand that my time is split between work and learning and understand what it takes to balance the two and support me through that by checking in on me as often as I request.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • They provide all of the resources I need, including standards, plans, updates, calenders. The check-ins could be improved but overall they try as hard as they can to provide what you need, even if it can sometimes feel rushed as if you are more of a number you still get a great service

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Honestly i feel that i could preform at a similar level without Arch, the training i have had could have easily been found online and that is exatly what ive done for my training. In some ways it distracts me from the job but once it gets me thoose qualifuications under my belt, my confidence at work will help me preform better

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • yes, theres sports such as 5 a side football, lgbt activities, proffesional networking events every now and then. Within our teams social events are also arranged and that can be a trip down the pub, something like mini golf or anywhere we cn think of on the day. Its great

  • 9a. Would you recommend BT to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because they are inclusive, positive, structured and with the inside xpirience i now have i could feel confident that i could give an honest opinion to my friend that would allow them t make a much more informed choice than anywhere that they came accross randomly. Therefore i would reccomend someone.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • Remain professional, stay sharp, have common sense those three things will help you but you need to keep your personality. Its a sociable place to work so if your interesting, passionate or even flamboyant it could really start to get you somewhere, communication is key. Don't be boring, its not a good look.
