  • 1. Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:
  • During my time at Pinsent Masons I was involvd in many interactive tasks where I was able to work with my time on challenges relating to law. We had a buisness task where we had to pitch our ideas of the best way to handle a buisness that is losing money, and we also had a moch employment tribunal. Both experiences gave me a huge insight into law.

  • 2. What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?
  • Previously to my time at Pinsent Masons, I was not confident at all. But after just a week of being there my confidence has really grown and I do not feel afraid to talk to the people there. My skills of being professional have also grown as after never being in an office, I am now fully comfortable at behaving professionally.

  • 3. To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?
  • I will say time and time again that my experience at Pinsent Masons cannot be transcribed on paper. It was just the best week of my life. I am so glad that I took the opportunity to go and spend a week with new people who will be my lifelong friends and also meet the trainees who were so helpful in settling me in.

  • 4. How well organised was your work experience?
  • It was extremely well organised. We were given a welcome pack with badges, passwords and usernames, timetable etc. I never once felt like I was missing something. We were also given a food voucher by Pinsent Masons which meant we never had to buy our food at our time there.

  • 5. How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
  • I began to learn Pinsent Masons values. They are an amazing firm that are extremely involved with charities and helping out other people. I feared that working in an office would feel like a 9am-5pm job. But it didn’t. There is such a relaxed envioroment to work in while feeling motivated and productive at the same time. And after 5pm you still feel like you want to keep working.

  • 6. How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
  • I was slightly uncertain on that path which I wanted to do however I was considering law. After my week at Pinsent Masons, I am completely sure that this is what I want to do. After seeing where I would be working in a few years time, it changed my way of thinking and really motivated me for the future.

  • 7. Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
  • You get your travel expenses refunded to you. Personally, I took the train and the people working their explain to keep hold of your reciepts and a refund will be given back to us. However, food vouchers were given to us so we did not need to buy any food.

  • 8. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
  • Everyday I met new employees. The trainee staff were so lovely and I met everyone there once I was working at my desk. We also had talks by different people each time which also allowed us to talk to different people. Furthermore, there was a talk on diveristy and promoting those from an ethnic background. Many of the employees attended which was a chance to network during or after the talk.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Pinsent Masons to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I has been a huge eye opener to me to really see what law is like. I think that by simply taking a week out of your life, you will be set for what you want to do for the next four years at university. This is extremely important and I would advise anyone and everyone to take this opportunity and make the most of it.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pinsent Masons?
  • I would say just to be confident and different. I personally wasn’t confident in applying. But the process is so easy that you just need to sell yourself. I learned that it was important to ‘Fake it till you make it’. And that is probably what most people will need to do. Don’t hold back when applying and sell yourself.
