  • A brief overview of my role and what it involves on a day to day basis would be: a lot of individual calculations and a lot of data manipulation in excel. I regularly carry out report updates and slides updates. There are also a number of ad-hoc tasks which I perform

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • So far in my apprenticeship I have learned lots of new skills as well developing my current professional skill set. My email technique has greatly improved and I feel a lot more comfortable answering phone calls from external parties. My knowledge of Actuarial techniques has also greatly improved sp far

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy my apprenticeship programme. I feel I am a productive member of my team and that my work adds value for both the clients as well as for my colleagues. I feel that I fit in well within my client team and I look forward to what the future holds.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is extremely well structured. I have regular catch- ups with my learning provider and my skills coach as well as my internal "buddy". I feel very well supported with advice readily available whenever I require it. I feel that tasks are delegated to me appropriately and with good instructions.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I feel very well supported by my employer. I am given 20% of my hours off to study for my exams. I receive constant support by my more senior colleagues and whenever I encounter issues or do not understand any of the material they are always happy and willing to help

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I feel very well supported by my training provider with regard to my qualifications. I have regular catch ups with my advisor, I attend online tutorials and the tutor is readily available to answer any questions at any time of day. The material is very well structured also which is great

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The material I am studying has absolutely zero bearing on the type of work I am carrying out, however I am fully aware that this is simply because they have to build up my basic level of mathematics so that I can then start to apply the more difficult techniques later.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have a very active social scene in my scene in my office. We will go out regularly for drinks as well as going for activities such as escape rooms, virtual golf or go-karting. We also have a 5 a side football team which plays in a league on a weekly basis

  • Tips and advice I would give for any prospective applicant would be to study their material before applying. It is extremely beneficial to know as much as possible about the work Aon does and how we are positioned in the market to ensure the role is right for you and that you are capable
