  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • my role in logistics requires me to receive goods coming onto site, unload check and put away, in my department we issue ingredients and other raw materials to lines as and when required, as well as return and store materials that are surplus to requirement. We must also complete weekly checks of all the racking spaces to keep inventory records up to date.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes i believe i have learnt to think differently when having to work through issues using the Kaizen skills and 5's mindset that we learnt in our sessions. When brainstorming in groups i feel i have more input due to the continous improvement skills taught to us in sessions.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • i enjoyed the working in teams aspect and the group of people in our sessions though it could be quite stressful at times as we struggled to get much offline time together to complete our projects together, though our classroom session were enjoyable especially the hands on sessions these i enjoyed the most.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Not as well as it could be as we never seemed to get our offline time to complete our projects and it seemed rushed toward the end to complete all work in time, and it didnt help that we had to change tutors half way through but other than that the classroom sessions were well organised and quite enjoyable to attend

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • A great deal from our CI team if data was needed to use for our projects and our apprenticeship manager and training team were always on hand if we needed the support as already said the only issue was getting our offline time together due to the busy nature of factory

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Lots we could email or use the whats app group set up to contact him, he was always very helpful in the classroom and offered to see us if needed when he came in to run other sessions, he seemed to know what levels we was all at and knew what support each of us required.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Yes i feel i have i have helped on a couple of projects in my area since and feel using 5's and Kiazen i have had input into these from the project to reduce truck movements on some of our more frequently used products which created another project to reduce wasted space in my new area. I also believe that it helps me to look at problems differently when they arise using some of the skills learnt in our sessions.

  • No not really occasionally a group of us meet up outside of work for drinks but other than that no we did have a football team but that disbanded i dont think we offer a lot of events outside of work other than the charity events but mostly that is done by our office team though i believe the option is there to participate i wanted.
