  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • this role involved mainly administration work and providing one to one support to the senior members of the firm - ie partners and directors. some of the duties include scheduling meetings for the partners, booking business travel, completing expense claims, filling out time sheets weekly and a number of other ad hoc tasks.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • yes. I have developed a number of existing skills including communication skills and organisation skills. I am now able to communicate in a professional manner with people of all levels and organise myself in an orderly fashion which helps me to prioritise my work and manage peoples expectations at work.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy my programme as it has opened a number for doors for me to get involved in different things such as events. this has allowed me to network too and meet lots of people which can be an advantage to me in the future. I also had the chance to work with loads of people which made my role more interesting.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • although at the beginning there was some confusion with the structure of the programme from the training providers side, the overall organisation is good. I have a good understanding of the work and study I do. they have improved the structure and communicated it to us in a timely manner.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I received a tremendous amount of support from my employer through out the programme. in particular, my mentor / line manager who was very supportive and understanding all the way through and provided me with all relevant advice to help me make any important decisions I needed to and putting my best interest first.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have received a good amount of support from my training provider - more near the end of the programme, but nonetheless they have been helpful in regularly catching up and staying updated with my progress and ensuring that I am on the right page and up to speed with my work and qualifications.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • the qualification helped because we had to carry out a project in our workplace during the programme as part of the study work. this was helpful as it allowed us to apply all the knowledge in a real life scenario and put all the skills we learnt to use. it also helped us to develop out day to day skills.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • there are a number of EY networks that we are able to get involved in which is very good as there is something for everyone. I have joined an Apprentice network and EY muslim network which keeps me updated with news and any activities that I can get involved in through them.

  • 9a. Would you recommend EY to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would definitely recommend EY to a friend as it has been an extremely valuable experience and has equipped me very well for the working world and prepared me with all the relevant skills and knowledge that I can apply in any workplace and adapt myself to. I have also met lots of nice people and networked.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • it is always important to give 100% effort and try hard at all times. it is important to be confident and willing to go the extra mile to demonstrate your interest and enthusiasm in the role. also, being approachable and friendly is good as that is how all the other people are and this will really help when networking with people.
