  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My Job as a relationship support officer involves me looking after the Relationship manager and helping them with daily tasks. I often answer customer queries, reply to emails , and send correspondence to customers. I usually check the queues every morning for all of the relationship managers. I will then log into all of the systems and action urgent tasks that are required my the relationship managers.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot of new skills since being with HSBC. I have learnt how to put together applications, complete different tasks to help customers get what they need, chase for accounts and complete a process to get products delivered to customers on time. I have also learnt what different customers require.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme. I feel that it is a fantastic way to learnt new skills whilst being in the role. The apprenticeship gives me the confidence to progress within the role and learn new skills that I may have never been able to learn before. I enjoy meeting new people who are also on the programme, and share our experiences together.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well organised. When I first joined it wasn't very well organised and the team I work with were not made aware about the programme, however now I feel that the team I work for are more aware about the apprenticeship and are very supportive of me within the role.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer. My employer often takes time out of their day to help me with task and ask me how I am getting on. The deputy area director is often very helpful and shows me how to complete tasks. It helps me seeing how she would complete tasks and it enables me to understand what I should be checking and how to get things right the first time.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I received support from my training provider. We often have a monthly call and discuss how my training is going and how I feel that the apprenticeship is developing. My talent coach is very good at helping me fill in forms for the apprenticeship and get my work complete way before the deadlines.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have not yet started my qualification, as HSBC have decided that they would like it to start in month 6. I know that the qualification will really help me within my job role. I am excited to complete the qualification and use the knowledge that I learn to help me progress within my role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have a lot of social activities at work and they are really exciting to get involved with. We complete a charity day as a team once a year which enables us to raise money for a local charity and have a great day out together. We also have a monthly dog walk and everyone meets and has a catch up after, which is lovely.

  • 9a. Would you recommend HSBC to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • HSBC is a great company to work for, they care about people and their welfare and also provide a great environment to work in. The company gives you a lot of options to grow and progress. There are many different roles and avenues to explore therefore HSBC is for everyone no matter what your background is.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to HSBC?
  • I would say to anyone applying in HSBC to be themselves, you can really go far if you believe In yourself and in your role. If you know you are ambitious and you want to succeed then you will. The jobs that are available are so varied, therefore there is a job for everyone.
