At Pinsent Masons, I was under the supervision of a trainee solicitor. I was given tasks to do by them such as proof reading and reasearch into legal matters. Every morning there would be a presentation on a certain type of law and then I would meet my trainee and spent the day with them.
I have not made any qualifications, however I have certainly learnt much more about law and what it entails. I have been in the Employment, Property, CAD and Commercial sectors and in those areas I feel much more knowledgable.
I found the work experience fantastic. The work was interesting and all the trainees and even senior partners were all extremely kind and helpful.
I feel very valued by Pinsent Masons, as I didn't feel as if I was looked down on because I was on work experience at all. I was given real work that a trainee would have to do, and as I mentioned in the previous question, everyone was extremely kind.
The program was very well organised and I knew exactly what I was doing and where I was going from the beginning due to the IT Training, Health and Safety briefing and Office Tour. Everyone was very punctual and I was never left with nothing to do.
I was constantly in contact with my trainee and they gave me any advice that I needed, they were extremely friendly and very helpful.
The HR Team was very helpful and was always offering advice. I would, however, have liked to have spoken a little more with more senior employees.
I did not receive a salary.
There are lots of opportunities out of work, such as Sport teams and Fitness regimes. There is also social outings with members of the company and other leisuirely activites such as a Comedy Club.
Yes
Every member of the Pinsent Masons Team was incredibly friendly and the work is challenging, yet not so challenging that it cannot be done.
I would advise other applicants to research the company beforehand and to stock up on their knowledge of law before they come, as that is very helpful when in this workplace.
