  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a work experience student who for the past week have been allocated different departments to go to within the firm, such as Corporate, Procurement, Tax and Employment, along with having a trainee solicitor as guidance. My tasks have ranged from researching different topics, summarising case files as well as looking at case studies and deciding if they were right or wrong in their decisions, providing legal evidence.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I've enjoyed the work given to me, it's allowed me to learn in detail about different department work as well as challengede me in the way I think and carry out tasks. The team here at Pinsent Masons are very friendly, helpful and a pleasure to be around and work with, living upto their company vlaues of 'Approachable.Bold.Connected'. The programme has met my expectatons and gone beyond! I didn't think I would be so involved within the teams and doing work which is relevant to their current cases. I've enjoyed my time here very much, I've learnt a lot and, if had the chance, do it again.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel the programme has been well organised, and has fitted to the schedule we were given at the start. The induction presentation was very helpful in informing us of what to expect as well as additional presentations given throughout the week have been useful and informative. Only slight comment I would make would be the way in which we didn't know what departments we were in until we looked at an email sent to us. Even then, the schedule was changed a few times.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I've recieved a lot of support on the most half from the solicitor trainees. They have been helpful in explainging the departments they are in, the work they do, what they've currently been involved in as well as given me tasks that have been fully explained. Any questions I might have I feel comfortable in asking them. On the other hand, at times it has been hard to talk to the trainees when they've been busy with other work, which is understandable given the profession, and it has still been interesting to watch their every-day kind of lives in the office.
