  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • In my day to day role I ring businesses to enquire if they would like to have an energy quote from us. If so we try to get them on the best tariff possible and put the sale through if they are happy with it and want to go ahead. We also send emails across as and when they are needed.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have improved on my communication skills and have learnt to slow down when I talk instead of trying to rush through my sentences. I have also learnt more about the energy business and how they work, as well as all the roles that are within this type of business.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed the apprenticeship programme so far, have met some really great people and have had some good experiences. My colleagues are amazing, so friendly and welcoming. Is a nice change from my previous job role, it isn't as intense which is really nice and I look forward to the rest of my experience here.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well structured and organised even though it is a brand new programme and I am one of the first people to do this type of programme in this sector of the business. We have set times for workshops with our training provider, which really helps us with the work that is provided.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer, especially when I have work to do for my training provider for my apprenticeship. They allow me to do some of the work while at work as if counts towards my 20% off the job training and my 80% on the job training.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Receive quite a bit of support from the training provider, as we can get in contact with them if we have any issues or trouble with the work. They send us emails with what work needs to be done for the next workshop with them and then we can ask them about it in the workshops as well.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification helps me in my role as it acquires us to learn more about the sales role and what skills are needed so I can improve what skills I already have and skills that I don't have to contribute towards the role. We also learn about techniques for talking with customers over the phone which helps, such as a funnel script.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are extra curricular activities to get involved in, every Friday on my floor we all get involved in a group quiz and we recently did an event for red nose day, where we had a cake sale, a raffle and pie a manager, its all a great way to get to know other people on your floor and within the business.

  • 9a. Would you recommend E.ON to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend working for EON to a friend because they treat you fairly and with respect, as well as listen to any queries or problems you have and help you to solve them. They're really supportive if your having any personal problems and try to help you in the best way they can.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to E.ON?
  • I would advise them to try their best because if they see that your trying your best they will help you to improve if you are struggling and to be honest. Do not panic about being on the phones as it isn't as bad as you would think and you get trained on how to use the system and how to interact with customer and you can always get direction and help from your colleagues or your manager if you are struggling.
