  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Our role as Sales executive apprentices is to help customers move in or out of their properties and try to resolve any issues that the customers may have. We start the day logging into our eon accounts and setting up all the sites and documents we will need for the day. We then are available for calls all day with breaks for lunch and between long periods of time.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • From this apprenticeship I have learnt how to use call centre systems and the software used to hold customers data. I have learnt how to deal with complaints from customers and the best way to provide them with what they really need rather than what is our most expensive or cheapest products.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The workplace at E.on is very friendly and supportive and we also gain a lot of support from our business experts and team managers. I enjoy learning how to problem solve and helping others as much as I can. So far I have found the experience very enjoyable and challenging.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Our structure for our apprenticeship is well organised and clear which helps us know our goals that we are working toward and helps keep us on track. We are given allocated break times and our rota's take into consideration for medical needs and mental health needs. What is expected of us is made clear and the team managers and business experts are there to help if ever we struggle.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We receive lots of support from E.on. We have assigned team members to support us throughout our apprenticeship. We have had trainers come in to give us specialised training sessions which make sure that we know and understand exactly what we will be doing. We also have additional support available should we need it.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Remit have provided us with an easy to use online platform for our apprenticeship and we have an apprentice co-ordinator who will regularly come in and check up on our progress. He also has expressed that if we ever need support for the coursework side of the apprenticeship we can contact him with any questions or make him aware of any circumstances we may have.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • As apprentices we are being led into the job role with more support than one may get if they just go straight into employment. The qualification means we are trained and taught more than others so may be getting more from the company than others. It gives us a qualification and experience which once we have completed the course we can then take away and use elsewhere should we decide to.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Our employer provides fun social activities in the workplace such as sweepstakes for charity, raffles for holiday baskets and after work drinks at local bars every month for a company social. Work colleges can also get involved in other activity's, for example at the moment a handful of e.on employees are climbing a mountain for charity.

  • 9a. Would you recommend E.ON to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The company seems to really look after its employees, making sure we get adequate breaks, if we work overtime we get time back on another agreed day and that we have free water and coffee to keep us going throughout the day. The environment is very friendly and the managers are always there to help.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to E.ON?
  • I would suggest that others who are applying for e.on keep an open mind and that if you work hard it will allow you to get the most out of your time here. E.on are willing to help everyone succeed so even if you may not have the skills now they will work with you to make you able to do your job the best you can.
