  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Flexing between HR Administration, Engagement with People and Training of staff. My job responsibilities involve: Updating our systems with return to works, inputting starters and leavers, booking in training, producing regular reports on the sickness/ leave of staff, helping with events, such as Red Nose Day and Valentines Day and managing uniform for our staff,

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed a lot of confidence being in this role, in regards to talking to new people and getting involved in less comfortable activities, to boost my confidence. My ability with communication with people have improved greatly and I have learned many skills related to IT. My organisation skills have highly improved also.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy coming to work. everyone is so friendly, helpful and supportive, as well as pushing me to achieve greater things. The training is very thorough, which helps we to learn quickly and effectively. I become very involved with activities internally and I feel part of my team, rather than like an apprentice, which I love

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very organised. My college work is balanced very well with my work at AO. My career path within the department is clear and I know how I can develop when I have completed my apprenticeship. I have regular meeting to update how I am doing both within AO and regarding my college work.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • More than enough. I have several colleagues that I can go and talk to if I have any concerns about wither my work internally or any college work. They are very respectful towards the balance of my work within AO and my college work, ensuring I do not become overloaded with work.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • A lot of support. I have several contracts which I can communicate my issues to and resources and help is available at all times. Extra sessions are also available for me to have, if necessary. Books are also supplied for me to read in reference to my course and AO allow me to have allocated times to complete my college work.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Amazing. Everything that I am learning in my college course, I am able to use on a regular basis when fulfilling my daily responsibilities. I am also able to understand more difficult situations and apply knowledge to situations which is beneficial to my team. I am able to complete my duties more effectively.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Absolutely. We have a programme, known as the 'Star Programme', in which we have to apply for internally and if successful, complete numerous events, to raise money for a charity of your choice. the project is quite large and requires a lot of time and thought. Also, activities, such as running event and football events are conducted throughout the year.

  • 9a. Would you recommend AO to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The company looks after their people and has support to help everyone. They are respectful in terms of work life balance and have several engagement activities throughout the year, which enables for everyone to get to know each other. Higher management are very approachable and have an open door policy, in which anyone can go and talk to them, whenever they wish. the business is like a big family and supports each other in every way they can. They try to everything for the better of the people, as well as business success.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to AO?
  • If you don't succeed the first time when apply, keep applying, as it is definitely worth it. No other business will treat you with great respect, appraisal or support than another business. the push you to your limits and help you to achieve what you never thought you could achieve. fabulous business
