  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Each day begins with a daily stand up. Following the daily stand-up, I begin writing code based on the requirements that were discussed in the stand-up. I either write new code or edit the existing code to fix any bugs that have been spotted. Often I am apart of meetings during the day to discuss certain changes or fixes that have been requested by the stakeholders.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned plenty of new skills while doing my apprenticeship. Before my apprenticeship, I did not know how to code at all, but because of being put in a technical role I am able to develop my ability in coding every single day. I can now code in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React.js and a few more.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme a lot. Each day it allows me to learn new things and meet new people. My team is lovely to work with and they help me regularly if I ever have a problem. The company makes me feel welcome in a happy and safe work environment every day.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My study is every Friday and the structure of each lesson and exam is clear and concise but always has enough information for me to understand. My teacher is incredibly supportive during each lesson and through-out exam time, and even during the work week when we are not at college my teacher is easily contactable about any worries or queries.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Support from my employer is always good and always available. Whether it be from colleagues or from my mentor or manager. Support is easy to find around every corner and everyone is willing to listen and help. The HR team are wonderful at helping with any work-related problems and dealing with them in an appropriate manner.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a lot of support from my teacher when I need it. He is incredibly supportive and is very easily accessible even on the days when I am at work and not college, he is easy to talk to and get support from. If there is something I don't quite understand he will take the time to sit down and discuss it further with me until I understand.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel like the things I learn in college help me better understand how a good agile team should work and how my role should contribute to the team. I also feel like the things I learn help me code better as I understand good coding practices and I am constantly learning more.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are lots of extra-curricular activities at work. There are a number of different sports groups who meet up to play different sports on certain days. There are the TAG events which are events planned by a team of apprentices and grads for other apprentices and grads to network and have fun. There's also open evenings and things for anyone interested in new opportunities.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because Accenture is an incredibly forward-thinking company who value each and every employee like no where else I've seen before. There's an amazing amount of different and new opportunities within Accenture and that Accenture can lead you to. The people who work at Accenture are amazing, they are lovely and always very helpful no matter what you need help with.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
  • Just be yourself. Accenture is always looking for people who are themselves and are looking for new opportunities around every corner. I would also say show a good attitude. Show that you are willing to learn and try even if you fail and show that if you fail, you can get back up and succeed.
