My programme is very enjoyable, I particular enjoy the workside of the programme and the different roles this has allowed me to experience. Some of the areas which i have experienced are as follows: Chief Data Office, Incident Management, Cyber Security and change management. The university side has been a challenge to get used to balancing work and study.

The Santander side of the programme is very well organised and gives you flexibility to move around the organisation to experience a wide range of business areas and develop your skills. The university side could be more structured and organised to allow students to focus instead of worrying about lecture being moved last minute or cancelled.

Santander are very suuportive, every Friday is reserved for study, all managers are supportive of the degree and will help wherever then can. With the network of apprentices within the bank there is normally somebody who will know or be working with a SME on the topic you are studying.

The support from BPP hasn't been brilliant, there seem to be very in organised and we have faced a number of problems if they had been more organised. The support on offer could be a lot better and students should be made aware of what is available to them.

I haven't been able to relate much of the degree to my day to day work, if anything it has been the other way round where my day job and different placements have helped me to understand the degree and theory which is being taught. As well as this there is nothing better then hands on experience.

There are a number of different networks which Santander which you can join including an Enable network which focuses on employees with disabilities and they run a range of different awareness events alongside the other networks. The best network i have is the apprentices on the degree programme along with myself as we are able to help each other.

I would recommend Santander because it is a very enjoyable and friendly place to work and as an apprentice you are treated as an equal and trusted with working on important projects and aren't given simple boring tasks. You are well rewarded and support by your managers and the apprenticeship programme.

I would make sure you understand what you are applying for and ensure that it is something that you are interested in. There a number of different apprenticeships and its ensuring you are applying for the one which suits you. In any interviews i would recommend being yourself and not trying to be the person you think the business want you to be.
