  • My role is to provide: - Assistance in ensuring compliant renewals - Answer account queries clients may have about their insurance policies - Gather information from clients so that an insurer may quote - Ensure that clients expectations are managed - Assist Client Managers in building relationships with clients - Provide technical support to colleagues - Update team systems for tracking purposes

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • A skill I have developed is working with different people - My team is made up of many different ages and adapting my approach to suit each individual is definitely something I have improved. Another skill I have improved is my communication - I am constantly working with different clients and colleagues either face to face, over the phone or email.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy coming into work and doing something different each day. There is always something new that I can work on or assist with. I also enjoy the social events my team organises as they are great way to meet new people and make work feel less formal. I also enjoy having responsibility and the feeling like you’re having an impact on the business.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is very structured - The team that co-ordinates the onboarding is very organised and are happy to answer questions I have. The team I have joined has been helpful in making sure I have a good workflow and constantly learning. From the start I knew how the apprenticeship would work and what key dates I would need.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have received a lot of support from Aon during my time so far. Everyone in my team is very approachable and more than happy to help/answer any questions. My manager provides constant feedback, so I am able to improve the way I work. There is also a good training team that aims to increase the knowledge of all national colleagues.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have constant meetings with my training provider to make sure I am on track and meeting targets I need to meet. FWD is very helpful in answering questions I have regarding exams and how I can improve the way I revise. The training provider also provides relevant revision materials to assist with CII Exams.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Through the meetings I have with my talent coach I have improved the way I revise and utilised the exam techniques he has taught me. As I go through my exams I am increasing my knowledge of the different insurances and how these can be tailored to the different clients my team deals with.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • At Aon there are many different activities to get involved in such as team football matches and Aon promotions days. The CII also heavily promotes networking events at Aon. As mentioned before my team host many different social events outside of the office which are great to get involved in.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Aon to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Aon has really developed the skills I have and seem genuinely interested in improving the way employees grow inside the company. As Aon is such a large company there is a great opportuity to learn about different areas in insurance and chose a career that really suits the individual and what they want to do.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aon?
  • I would encourage anyone applying to Aon as an apprentice to try and increase their knowledge of the insurance industry. I would also suggest trying to get involved in as many different events as possible and build up a good network of people that you get sound advice from. I would also prepare for a long recruitment process and try to make a good lasting impression during the assessment days.
