  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I support client managers and client service advisors in servicing their clients to agreed standards. This involves liaising with clients and insurers during the renewal process, collating and analysing data, answering day to day queries and processing / checking documentation ready to send to the client. I am involved in meeting client's day to day needs.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned lots of transferable skills. In particular building and developing strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including colleagues, insurers and clients. I have developed my ability to analyse and process data as well as a range of IT and business skills, giving me a better understanding of how businesses operate.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • There is a good balance in my work in terms of it following a process which is easy to follow and understand, but interesting and diverse within this process. There are often aspects of my work that i have not seen or dealt with before, which is enjoyable and i learn considerable amounts each time.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There has been a structure in place from the start of the programme with clear end goals at the end of the apprenticeship. Within this, there is a lot of flexibility and it can be very much what you make of it in terms of studying and progressing through tasks at your own pace.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer and all of my colleagues have been very supportive in my development. I have been encouraged to get involved in a wide range of activities outside of my ordinary role and i get generous support in achieving my professional qualifications. I can work and develop at my own pace

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive support from my training provider in completing the mandatory components of the apprenticeship, including government objectives and exam / professional qualification support. I have contact with my personal coach on a monthly basis and i can ask questions in between these sessions to make sure i am on track

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualificatuion is fundamental in my ongoing professional development. Through my studies, i have considerably developed my technical knowledge which supports the work i do on a day to day basis. The qualification is essentially the groundwork to build my career on and therefore is essential in being able to develop.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are opportunities to develop your network both internally and externally. I am encouraged to interact with people to develop professional connections and i have started to appreciate the value in this. There are occasional sporting events and after work gatherings and these tend to be with external people in my network

  • 9a. Would you recommend Aon to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Aon have so far provided me with the tools to be able to develop my career. So far, they have given me great responsibility and enabled me to develop as a person and technically. I certainly feel more enriched than when i first started and this will help me in my career.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aon?
  • If you are applying to Aon, you will be joining a global presence. Be prepared to work hard, but with that see your colleagues invest in your development. The apprenticeship can be what you make of it, so try and get involved in as much as possible. It will really help your development.
