  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My day to day tasks involve completing work on high level accounts and supporting junior employees with their tasks. I get to communicate with new clients all of the time, and I am responsible in ensuring that my team are working effectively to get their work finished well and on time.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Not only have I been able to develop my current skills such as communication, teamwork and resilience, I have also been able to gain new skills that have helped me to progress in the apprenticeship and be the best senior I can possibly be. I am also able to challenge myself.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme a lot, particularly now that I have gained a lot of experience and understand a lot more about the role and the job in hand. I am able to meet new, intelligent people who I wouldn't have normally got to meet, and I've made good connections.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure and organisation of the programme is really good, as we have blocks of time at college, blocks of time to study and we also do professional work around this. The timing of the exams works well and is well structured - also supported by help from the employer themselves.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • There is a lot of support from the employee with regards to the programme and work in general. We have a designated counsellor who is the first port of call for any issues that need resolving. In addition, every one at EY is there to help, and there's always constant support when you're stuck.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • There is a lot of support from the training provider when working towards the qualification as we have access to lots of online support including forums, online tutors and access to other students who know the experience first hand and are able to help with smaller questions. There's a good amount of support.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification through the training provider helps me to perform better in my role at work as I have the theological knowledge surrounding the subject of accounting, which I can use towards my work. In the other instance, my role at work also helps me to perform better in the qualification.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are a number of different extra curricular activities that we are able to get involved in at my place of work, such as sports team, social committees and CSR committees. In addition, there are often many events for young professionals which allows us to network and meet like minded people

  • 9a. Would you recommend EY to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend EY to a friend to a very large extent as it is a well respected company and gives you lots of opportunities to do things outside of your comfort zone. You are also able to develop your skills and gain a well respected qualification - chartered accountant, which is looked highly upon.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • The tips and advice I would give to any one applying or considering applying to the company would be to research what EY do and the different service lines they offer to find the one best suited to your personality and what you want to achieve in the future of your career.
