  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My day to day role involves speaking to clients and my internal colleagues, my tasks involve putting in payments, emailing and calling clients, collecting and sending out documents to clients, helping prepare the client's annual review packs. I also prepare documents for clients to set up accounts with us.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes I would say my communication skills have definitely improved and so has my confidence through interacting with different people. My computer skills have also improved a bit and also my ability to figure things out for myself and networking skills and knowing who best to contact in different situations.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme, it has helped me develop Important skills and I have been given lots of support with my learning both exams/course work wise and job wise. I also feel they have given us a nice route of transition into the next role after we complete the apprenticeship.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think the programme has been very well organized we were given enough time to do the exams but also encouraged to get them done quickly. We had revision courses planned and lots of support from the learning provider as well as our manager, and we have a clear path to follow job wise as well.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We receive lots of support from our employer, our manager is very supportive and meets with us regularly to discuss progress, we also have support from the apprenticeship team which is for apprentices across the whole business. We have many options to seek help and support when we require it.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We receive lots of support, revision courses are arranged and where we can learn and ask questions and get things explained, but we also have ways of contacting them in between revision courses. We also have a skills coach who is always available for help and support when we need it.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think it helps us understand some of the products better but also with the regulations paper helps us understand why we do things and our role in the wider bank and industry. This all helps perform better in the role as understanding is applied so we aren't just processing.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there are many activities such as sports teams, team drinks and events and on a wider scale there are department parties at certain points in the year. There also talks put on to attend at lunch time which you can go to to find out about different topics of conversation.

  • 9a. Would you recommend UBS to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It offers an amazing start to your career having a big name behind you but you also have great support both with the job learning and exam wise. You are pushed to improve but at a good level, and are treated well as an employee. There is also a good career path.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to UBS?
  • Be yourself in the interview and don't think you will be disadvantaged by doing an apprenticeship rather than going to university. Do research about the role but also if you decide when you get here the role isn't for you but you like the company there are plenty of opportunities to move around.
