  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • For the 18 months I was based full time in college where I carried out a Multiskilled NC of electrical and mechanical Then once I had completed this I was moved to shadow engineers assisting them in their work and carrying out my level 3 qualification and also being sent to training.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned hand skills and wiring within my time at college I have also been learning to follow wiring diagrams and how electrical systems work. The work I do helps me to develop my problem solving ability and challenges me to think things through more than any other job.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my program as it challenges me to be better in what I do day to day in work and makes me work together with others and also allows me to learn about myself and develop my skills and the company pushes me to be the best version of myself.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program is very well structured the whole process is reviewed constantly and my progress is monitored throughout and I have a chance to input my opinions throughout the company has my development pathway laid out for me and assist me in where I want to go within the company.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a great deal of support from my employer in everything that I do within the company whenever I have any issues my manager always does his up most to help me resolve the issues and in my course in college the company has always given me the time to do all the assignments needed.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • In my course in college the company has always given me the time to do all the assignments needed. the have assisted me in choosing my units so that i am able to complete them to a high level and giving me work that will allow me to complete the tasks set by the college.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification that I am working through at the moment allows me to have a better understanding of the tasks that I have to carry out in the work activities that I undertake and it allows me to develop my hand skills and my problem solving ability has benefitted from my courses.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • At this moment to my knowledge there are not any extra curricular sports or networking events but there is talk of trying to get some teams started to help as team building exercises and to help raise the morale within the company. There are regular team meeting and after them there is usually a meal and a night out.

  • Yes

  • the company always supports you in any thing that you want to do and allows you to grow as a person and develop your skills and they allow you to do other training to help you progress within the company and will support you in what you want to do. It is a career that you begin when you start with the company


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Schneider Electric?
  • Be ready to commit to the company because it is a career that you start when you join Schneider electric and they really invest in you as a person allowing you to progress within the company and the whole company is very welcoming and always pushes you to be the best that you can be.
