  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As an apprentice I am responsible for managing the design, planning, installation and operations of building services within a building and ensure that the clients requirements are meant from a quality, financial and time stand point. it is also my duty to ensure that operatives are put work safely and they have the correct tools and equipment to complete the works safely.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since beginning my apprenticeship in 2016 I significantly improved my knowledge of construction and building services engineering. My planning and organizational skill have also improved considerable which as aided me in achieving goals and objectives while working on live projects. The improvement in the following has given me a boost in confidence and has allow me to excel in many aspects.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme since starting has exceeded my expectations, the teams that I have worked with the support that I have received has made the programme very enjoyable. Hard work is seen and rewarded my senior members and it helps you to want to achieve and exceed expectations where ever possible.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well structured and organised, the external training that is provided by the company is very comprehensive and allows you to increase your depth of knowledge in your field as well as other fields within the company. I am part of the construction side of the company however I have been to training relevant to the consultancy side as well.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support from the emerging talent team and senior members of staff has been excellent from the beginning. My employer ensures that I am receiving the right amount training and support and any areas where I may need additional help, they provide the necessary opportunities and support to help me achieve my objectives.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many charity events that take place across all the projects that I have worked on. There have been charity football events that have taken place on both projects that I have worked on as well has team building events for all apprentices. These team building events take place each year as well as the Mace apprenticeship awards which rewards those who have exceed over the year.

  • 9b. Why?
  • Mace is an excellent company to work for, they are leading the way for what construction companies should aspire to be. I have worked on two incredibly iconic project since starting here, the teams that I have worked with and the relationships I have made along the way will see me remain with this company for the foreseeable future.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mace?
  • Make sure you are yourself when applying to the company, Mace are looking for unique individuals with unique attributes. show off what sets you apart from other people and what skills you have and where you have used them in the past. Be confident and will to want to learn new things.
