  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role changes on a day to day basis where I can be working on a number of different projects at once. Working in a multi-disciplinary team provides exciting opportunities to experience a wider range of instructions to win and complete where this also contributes to your understanding of your field.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • A key part of both the working role and the university training requires you to develop new skills and improve those you already possess. In particular key IT skills are developed quickly as they become ever more crucial in efficiently working in the workplace. This of course doesn't mention all of the skills that you are required to pick up in order to satisfy the apprenticeship conditions.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme is greatly enjoyable where no two days in the office are the same. Additionally, I am able to get out of the office and travel around the UK for various tasks that need completing providing an additional satisfaction from becoming a trusted member of the team so quickly.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The organisation of the programme falls into two sides: the company and the apprenticeship provider. Savills have been excellent in providing a well organised and structured programme to be completed and the support that apprentices receive is very good. The apprenticeship provider is also good but are working on improving this internally at current.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer provides excellent support at all stages of the apprenticeship particularly during the APC where we have some of the highest pass rates in the industry likely attributed to the exemplary training and support we are provided with. All members of staff are very helpful in training and look forward to the opportunity to develop.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The support from the training provider will always be of a more distant nature a fact in distance learning programs. Despite this engagement is good with quarterly catch ups with a dedicated outcomes officer and feedback on assignments. Tutors are generally approachable and happy to help out where they can.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Working in very niche team not all of the work that I complete as a part of my degree is completely applicable to my direct 'day job'. It is important to still recognise that it does provide a valuable lesson and if I were to transfer out of the team it may be knowledge I would have to pick up.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are a number of activities to get involved in and where these do not currently exist you are actively encouraged to set these up. This can be networking events, sports teams or panels. As a business we try to foster entrepreneurship, encouraging ideas. If it is not in place - set it up yourself!

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Savills?
  • Planning and preparation are key in order to succeed in the interview. You should have a very good idea of the company history and future direction. It is also a good idea to consider what makes a 'Savills' person as culture is a key part of the business. Above all knowledge can be learnt personality cannot.
