  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role on a day to day basis is working within the business finance centre and supporting one of the senior colleagues with their markets of Spain and the Czech Republic. I help to put together the budgets and the latest estimates for those markets and make sure to keep in mind a demand management mindset. I get to travel to my markets and interact with them face to face to find out the information we need.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed many skills through working in this role including valuable excel and PowerPoint skills because I do most of my reporting in excel and therefore need to know how to use it effectively so I don't spend too much time on it when I could be doing other tasks. I have also developed my PowerPoint skills as I make business review slides for the markets which they then present.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my programme. The company I work for has really helped me develop my skills and shown me that this is the kind of work I want to be doing as a full time career in the future. The only part of the course I don't enjoy is the learning side but this is because I don't feel that I get the right support from my training provider.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is very well structured in terms of working and studying because I work 4 days a week and take one day a week for my studying part. In terms of my office work it has been structured with the first year me working in commercial finance and then in the second year me progressing into the business finance centre to develop my skills.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer. I have weekly catch ups with my manager and bi weekly meetings with my whole team as we are not all based in the same place which means I can openly ask for any help needed. They are also always open for me to go and speak to them and get any help that I may need.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I don't believe I receive any support from my training provider. I get signed onto my online course which I go through and then am left to revise and take the exam however if I need any extra help there doesn't seem to be anyone there to ask. I have also failed a few of my exams and every time this happens BPP don't know it has happened and therefore I have to chase them to see if they can give me any extra support to help me pass which they reply with the fact they cant and I have to go and buy extra material.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I believe the qualification I am doing helps me perform in my role because it is an accredited qualification that I need to be doing my role now and in the future. It talks about budgets and forecasting which is exactly what I do in my role and therefore I can relate this back to my studies.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes my work always makes sure we have extra curricular things to participate in. For example my work has said that every employee can have five paid volunteering days a year so we can go and help our local community. There is also lots of sports activates they run such as football and running clubs with the gym. In our teams we also get the opportunity to go to a summer and winter offsite where we have meetings and do activities all together.
