Technical Apprentice Review

My day to day role offers infinite amount of new opportunities where every day is a new day. One day i can be working in a hospital next in a data centre. i work with panels, lighting, heating, ventilation, security and much more. Also i'm working with the newest tech all day everyday which is a dream come true.

I learn something new every day i work. if its something technical or something a little bit more with general personality i will learn something everyday. we also do weekly training courses which are dedicated to learning so i learn then. and one of the main parts is going to university to get a degree.

i absolutely love it. there is literally nothing i would change. i feel like i have grown up so much as a person just in the last 7 months where i can definitely say i have matured into a more rounded person, and i can say i have landed on my feet.

Schneider Electric is more organised than anything else i know. i talk to my parents about their workplace and they don't seem to compare. from all the support i receive to how easy it is to talk to all the hierarchy within the business about my interests but also theirs and their experiences.

Everyone is here to support us all of the time. If it's just a catch up phone call to one to one meetings all of thee show how engaged they are with making this opportunity the best it can. i really feel like the company wants me to do as well as i can.

Lincoln University is fairly good. we do online lectures to teach us all we need to for our degree and every 9 weeks we go to campus and learn for a week with the lectures which in a small group is very useful to pick stuff up you may have missed.

the qualification has been molded around our job so when we work we implement what we learn at university. and when we are at university we implement what we have done on site or they can just come in hand. within the first 7 months it really does help in real life situations.

Not too much due to the nature of the job as the people we work with are from far and wide. when we are at training or university we all get together alot of the time and have activities between the apprentices. we still have the typical xmas party etc...

As i believe it is such a good opportunity to get into such a well recognized company who will help you throughout your lifetime and whenever i say i work for Schneider Electric people say 'you must be smart' or 'arent you lucky' which shows what people from the outside think.

Be yourself. It's the main thing any manager at Schneider Electric wants. You can be as good at sitting an exam as anyone else, but how do you stand out from them. Don't just think it's only an engineering company. with a big company comes every type of job there can possibly be.
