1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Its a very practical job and you will get the best of both worlds so you will work on software and create some graphics for an AHU for example and then the next you will be in the field testing the actual AHU to see if it matches the software.

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed how certain systems operate and how to find a problem and then go ahead and fix it. Also I have been able to develop my practical skills while being out in the field so I will know the correct procedure of how to islolate a panel for example.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

This programme is very enjoyable and I feel it is ideal for anyone who looks to work on software and understand it as well as getting your hands dirty and doing the practical aspect as well. Everyday is different and for someone like me this is what I want as is it a unique work environment.

4. How well organised/structured is your programme?

The apprenticeship scheme that I am on is quite difficult at the start as you have to plenty of University work and a full time job at the same time but then after a few weeks or months you start to get to grips with it and are able to balance it out.

5. How much support do you receive from your employer?

I get the best support from my co workers because whenever I get stuck with something I always have someone there to help me and explain to me how to solve this issue. Also the staff I work with are very nice to work with and I don't feel scared to talk to them with any issues I have.

6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

There is a bit of support because when we have assignments due in we are able to take a day through the week to work on university work and work with the other apprentices at the same time to help each other out with any problems with the work that we have been set.

7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The degree qualification has a few modules which I don't feel we benefit me in the long run for example something like MATLAB which is a software program and this is because my company won't come across it. However most modules will help me progress in every day work life like electronics which is something I deal with everyday.

8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There isn't any extra curricular activities near me so maybe if there was some that would be good. However around other offices they do actually do football sessions and bike sessions and different days. Also there is always a christmas due at the end of the year which everyone is invited to.

9a. Would you recommend Schneider Electric to a friend?

Yes

9b. Why?

It is a very unique job and allows you to develop in all the right areas if you want to become an electrical engineer like myself. Also all the people who work here are very friendly and able to help you in any situation you might get yourself stuck in.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Schneider Electric?

Try to be yourself and treat everyone the same and they will treat you the same. Show your passion to engineering and bring up any projects that you undertaken and say how much you enjoyed it and why you enjoyed it. Also show your dedicaton to wanting to study towards a degree even if it does mean working full time as well.
