  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I mostly do a lot of adhoc support and analysis for my teammates, which can range from anything to reporting revenues to analysing invoices. I also help prepare for month end reports by helping provide information or taking on the creation of reports myself. I do this with due care and diligence

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned a lot about managing my time correctly. Where before I really left everything for the last moment I now manage my workload more effectively by making plans and goals while also sticking to them. I then also get a lot of training and help on excel to polish those skills as well

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I very much enjoy my programme, I feel like I am in a pleasant working environment and this is mostly due to having a pleasant team to work with and the culture of the company being something I enjoy being part of. It does meet my expectations but has also surprised me in some ways

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I had a very basic induction which was just a day of presentations to inform me about the company. I have a lot of support from all sides, being BPP, my team members and my manager alike. in terms of structure it is very much dependent on you as you plan our own course and exam dates

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • In terms of support I get a lot of attention from my team mates, they are available to answer any question and will help explain any part of my tasks that I do not understand. I also have weekly 1 to 1's with my manager were I can ask questions and what not

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have acontact person I get from bpp and they will set up quarterly catch up calls to talk about your progress and help with queries. The downside is that it's not the same person for each of these which is a shame. the general attitude is aright but the booking process for exams and whatnot could be smoother

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification directly helps me perform better in my role because it is the basis of the knowledge I need to learn before I can become a fully qualified individual. I haven't really put the theory of what I learnt into practice as it is the basis of what I need to learn in the future

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • there are loads of company events as well as social events which I am free to participate in. this could vary from anything like after works drinks to a participating in a bike ride for charity in a foreign country. there is also loads of activities to do in breaktime, like pool and table tennis

  • 9a. Would you recommend Colt Technologies to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I like the company culture and the environment which I'm in. I feel more than comfortable here and I feel like I get loads of opportunities to ask any questions and to learn and review. I feel like a valueable member of the team rather than just an apprentice

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Colt Technologies?
  • The application process is not too troublesome. there is a online video interview that is not too hard to prepare for. there is then also an assesment day that really isnt anything different to most. you hear if youre hired quite quickly and I had quite a good experience myself
