  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My job title is Customer Service technician (CST) My daily tasks are answering the phone and helping customers. internally I will have to ask my colleagues for help as I had little training when I first started. Externally I have to call Head offices of stores. My responsibilities include answering the phone and helping customers as quickly as possible to take the next call. Projects include making documents for the desk to learn from. I take calls everyday,

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am currently working on this apprenticeship course to get a pro com qualification. I have taken no internal training courses about from small e learning courses. I have taken external training by visiting a Head office to get training on new systems. I feel I have gain a professional skill on how to speak on the phones. I have learn how to use IT to diagnose problems.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The work is now getting very harsh to cope with. we have low numbers of staff on the desk which really impacts out work. The team i work is are very nice and have given me a warm welcome into the working world. The company culture seems to be nothing but making money. When i first saw this course It looked amazing. However its not what I thought now I am here. I was sent a apprenticeship documentation of rules that will be carried out. It said I would have a day release to work on college work. however I was given no time to work on my coursework. I have had to come in early most mornings to work on this work. I enjoyed working with the group as they made me feel welcome. however I have not been taken care of as an apprentice and have found this whole experience quite depressing.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Fujitsu?
  • I dont get much appreciation from my manager even when I did get sent an email of priase from the head office. Interally ive not had any reognition apart from a very horrible meeting with an MP. The other apprentices agreed with me. everything felt very faked for his visit. I dont feel valued at all. even though I am doing twice the work load compared to everyone else.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I spent 2 months doing no work as nothing was sent. I never had any welcome meeting with fujitsu. I had 1 week of training then left on the phones by myself. this was very scary and I wouldnt reconmend this to anyone very shy towards speaking with people. The mentor system was useless. there wasnt a mentor anywhere near the site im based at. so i couldnt talk face to face about my problems on the course. the programme was awful. ive seen my tutor about 10 times while on this course. everything seems to be rushed towards the end of the couse which has gotten me very down. my tutor and boss didnt have a great link of communication.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I get emails the odd few times advising me to study on different topics. however as I dont understand these topics. Its hard to self teach myself something on something i dont understand. the acessibility of support has been awful. I would email my tutor and then a few days later get a reply. Ive had not much guidence from either my manager or tutor on my problems. everything Ive come accross ive had to self teach or just deal with not knowing about a certian topic. Gernal attitude towards to supporting me. I cant even answer this as Ive hardly had any support whatso ever.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My first few months I was on £100 a week. My train ticket a month cost me £131. so this took most of my savings. the next few months I was on £200 a week. this still was hard to cope on this amount. I live quite far from fujitsu and can only take a train.

  • 9. Would you recommend Fujitsu to a friend?
  • No

  • 9b. Why?
  • It was not a great experience to get me started on my working life.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Fujitsu?
  • prepare yourself. I would like to of been told my whole course and what would happen. and I would of liked a welcome meeting with fujitsu. I never even got to mee the manager of the apprenticeships. and when I met the manager of the meeting with the MP He was shocked at how Ive been treated here. all of the other apprentices seem to be having fun at the other sites. however the STE04 site seems to just get missed out everytime with apprentices care and wellbeing.
