I'm a customer service apprentice. My job is to help customers find the products they are looking for, serve customers at the till, putting stock out onto the shelves, change all the tags for promotion, zero to zero on the fragrance and I offer baskets to all the customers that come into the store.
I have learnt how retail on the shop floor works. I have also learnt how to do a pick list, a planogram, a tag request, the damaged items process, zero to zero process, click and collect process, a product enquiry, how to cash up the tills and a pick from store process.
I'm enjoying the whole programme. Everyone is loving, supporting, helpful and caring in the store. Overall the customers we get in store are really nice and if we get some customers that are not so nice we pull together as a team to keep everyone going throughout the day.
It's very well structured and organised. My tutor comes to see me once a month to discuss my progress, offer support and to provide/receive feedback. Also my tutor sets booklets for me to complete before the next visit and I get time with my manager to learn about different things on the job .
My manager and team always ask if i am okay and if i need any help. They always take the time to teach me new things and assist me if I need any help. They are all approachable and I can talk to them about anything because it feels like we are all a family.
I receive as much support as I need. My tutor comes once every month to see how my progress is getting on and I have there mobile number if I ever need to call or text to ask any questions I might have. I always get really good feedback from my tutor every month.
It is good to work towards a qualification however even without a qualification to work towards I would still work just as hard. I am really committed to doing a very good job and build a career within the business. Having the qualification at the end of the apprenticeship is a bonus.
We do celebrate birthdays and special occasions. We do have events where we all bring in food and socialize. We also have gatherings and a meal when someone is going away to work in another store. We do dress up to suit the occasion like we did for Christmas where we dressed in Christmas jumpers and tinsel.
Yes
It's a great place to work, everyone makes u feel welcome and u don't feel like the new person for very long as everyone gets you involved. It's also a fun work environment, there is a good team spirit and its the type of place where you want to go to work everyday.
I would tell my friend to research the company, see if it feels right for them, see if its the job role they want to apply for, is it something they would like to do and just go for it because it is a good opportunity that you don't want to miss.
