  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a trainee audit I am responsible for reviewing various clients financial statements and ensuring they give a true and fair view. I use the software Aura to conduct my testing and chose samples from the companies accounts to check to see if the balances agree to any supporting documentation and there are no misstatements

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have greatly developed the skill of time management as the role requires me to prioritise task and allocate my time effectively. I have also developed my team working skills as I have worked with others during the audits as a team to complete the work. Finally I have improved my technical skills on excel

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme so far and would recommend it to anyone who wants to go into a financial role! The placement experience helps me to develop my physical skills during the degree meaning once I graduate I feel prepared for the world of work and have a lot more experience than other

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well structured as the placements remain at the same time each year and they fit in well with the university course, as the placement occurs just before exams. There is a lot of help and support from university lectures and PwC workers meaning there is always great organisation and communication.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The level of report received is very good and I always feel I have someone to contact if there was a problem. Each student is allocated a mentor and buddy meaning we always have a contact to go to for help/advice and we are able to meet up with our mentor on a regular basis

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We receive support from them during placement as they help us prepare for upcoming exams by teaching us skills and lessons that we will need for our qualifications. Also if we have exams to revise for they are understanding and allow us to revise for these amongst working by working from home or working flexibly

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • During university lectures we study modules that help prepare us for the auditing work we will do on placement e.d audit and assurance modules and accountancy modules. These teach us the fundamentals of accountancy and audit and help familiarise us with the financial statements and testing we will perform in our role

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are always social events in the office e.g drinks after work on Fridays/cake sales etc. As well as this there are group social events per client in which teams get together after finishing an audit and celebrate by going for a meal and drinks as well as a fun activity (crazy golf/darts/ping pong bars)

  • Yes

  • Great support, great opportunities available, full of young and enthusiastic people who are very intelligent and offer a lot of teaching/coaching to others. Promotes flexible working and offers so many good school leaver/graduate programmes. Multiple offices in England as well as many other countries with the opportunity to go on secondments abroad


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
  • Research the company and exactly what the job role involves so you can prepare and know what to expect. Speak to other people who work with PwC to gain their views on the job and look online for company reviews so that you know exactly what job you are applying for and whether you’ll fit in!
