  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role was to provide personal care to residents and keep them safe and secure in the care environment. Also to provide fluids and foods, suitable for everyone. And then to document everything that has happened during the day and report any concerns that I may of had and also to communicate with other staff members and residents well.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt new skills because it has improved my confidence and communication skills as I am communicating every day with different people that may come in to the home and those within the home including staff and residents. Also learnt new skills due to the training we have received in work

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The apprenticeship was good and I’ve learnt skills that I’ll use all my life. It was a good balance between doing practical things and the theory side of things. It was a good setting to be in and i’be loved meeting new people every day due to different people coming in daily

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It was organised Well and they knew what to do and when to do it. My manager was always checking that I was up to date on things and helped me along the way. He stuck to the book and made sure I was organised for my monthly meetings with both him and my trainer

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I received so much support from my manager. He is a great manager, always reassured me of things ever went wrong and told me I could do it. Always asks how I was doing and how I was getting on within my work units. Also gave me regular meetings to check everything was okay

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Again I reviewed a lot of support from my training provider. He met me whenever I needed to see him along with our monthly visits. Whenever I emailed him or messaged him about advice or if I was stuck on something then he was always there to provide support and help me

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • All the units that were given to me were relevant to my work role and definitely helped me to improve skills in those subjects. They gave me lots of knowledge that I am able to put in to my job role for the future. The units were detailed and helped me to get a good qualification

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there is. I am an oopmh champion for exercising, I help the residents to exercise and show them different ways to help them mobilise more and better. I also run a project where the children from the school come over and interact with the residents to get rid of the stigma for dementia

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Anchor trust is a great place to work because you get the right support and care whenever you need it. They offer you good opportunities and skills that you can use for the rest of your life and are always open to welcoming new people in to the work place


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Anchor Trust?
  • Even if you’re not confident then don’t think you can’t apply. It will give you the skills to set you up for future job roles and open you up to so many opportunities. Just be yourself and enjoy yourself when at work because the residents love everyone that come in to the home
