More specifically I am a part of the L3 support team as part of a data warehouse, within the RTR division. I have to be involved in daily stand up meetings to talk about what i have done, what i will do and any blockers. once i have completed a task i get given another one and the cycle runs like that
I have improved on my communication skills, especially talking with people i do not know over skype. i have improved my time management skills, trying to stick to deadlines. and also i have made substantial progress coming from no database experience to now having a relatively deep understanding and being able to manipulate them using sql
I think it is a great programme, i have met many new amazing people, that ranges from apprentices such as myself to employees in the business and thats great. its a new experience for me, venturing into the city and diving straight into the working world and i love it.
the programme is very well structured, I always know what I am aiming for, everything is told well in advanced so i can plan for it and the UBS Junior talent team are great, they are always very helpful in coming back with information and setting up programmes for us such as mentoring, talks and training and if there are any issues they are very quick to sort it out
My employer is very supportive, i have been introduced to the whole team, who all sit near me, so in a sense of work support i have tons of support whenever i need it. as previously stated, the junior talent team are always available if i feel i need something else as extra support. i also have a mentor who i can talk to
our training provider have provided us with a direct contact, who is a specialist in our course and he is very helpful with any questions we need answered or any advice we may need. we also have access to pluralsight which have more than enough courses to help us along the way
the qualifiaction and courses taught for the most part does in fact relate back to my job and is very helpful.
we do have loads of communities to get involved in, whether it be sports, networking, professional talks, social activities and etc
Yes
I feel like it is a great opportunity to be here. I have been able to work on so many of my skills; soft and hard. the culture at UBS is very good and everyone has an understanding of it and implements that culture which i think helps me and anyone who is to join grow as a person which is very important. Therefore I would definitely recommend UBS to anyone i know
Try to have an understanding of the UBS culture before coming to the interview, (information is on the about us page) prepare yourself, english and maths. and also make sure that the role you are applying for is something you are passionate about because it is a commitment you are making and there is no point being committed to something you dont want. and also your interviewer will be aware of how passionate you are. What I would have liked to be told is the importance of soft skills because technical skills are going to be taught but soft skills such as (motivation, communication, teamwork etc) cannot be taught
