  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • my day-to-day activities involve providing customer service to employee's providing reference for employment/bank reference/visa supported reference, promotions, pay increase, transfers and terminations. I run report such as employee end dates at gsk, secondment end date, employee survey of employee being terminated. We approve job positions within the organisation

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt communications skills, data analysis, customer service, excel, word. I have built my confidence over the last 6 months. I have meet a lot of new people in different departments this has helped me develop my networking skills. I have become confident in picking up a task and completing by my self.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme I am learning at lot of HR process and general HR knowledge. I like the content of the CIPD level 3. There is a lot of general knowledge that will help me throughout my career in HR. I enjoy meeting other apprentices that are experiencing the same process.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • good, we are the first apprentices in the HR department for GSK so there is always from to improve. I think that there is a lot of support from my line manger and the early talent team. I feel like I have a lot of different connects that are available to me if I have question or need support around my apprenticeship.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my line manager, management in general and the company. Also the early talent team are available to support me throughout my apprenticeship. GSK as a company are very supportive to their apprentices are have put in place apprenticeship events and groups to join.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • good, monthly meetings. The online portal for the CIPD level 3 qualification is great. It is easy to access and use. there are a lot of resources available. my tutor is always very helpful and has good communication. I think at the start of the apprenticeship scheme the learning provider could have been clearer about the programme and what would be involved throughout the year. I think I received this information to late

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think that the level CIPD 3 is going to be essential for my role to understand HR processes and government laws surrounding these processes. the qualification is recognised and wanted nation wide. I want to use the level 3 qualification to build my knowledge to be able to complete the level 5 CIPD

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I am a member of the Women's Leadership Initiative. I would like to join more groups which I think GSK have a lot available I need to reach out and join. I also need to find ones that are suitable to myself. I have been involved with the 2018 apprentices all over the UK at gsk. It is a good network

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I think that they are a supportive company. There is opportunities for everyone. The managers provide 1:1 support I think this is essential for employees to be open with managers and build a relationship. There are many opportunities for personal development. Has a positive atmosphere suitable for every one


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to GSK?
  • Make sure you understand the business and look into what work GSK is doing. Its important and encouraged to understand the business needs and goals . Be yourself and express what you have done to support your skills. Explore all areas for the department before applying for roles to find the one best suited to you
